After a record-setting box office debut this past weekend, the Five Nights at Freddy's movie has one more milestone up its animatronic sleeve. The long-awaited video game adaptation is now the most-watched entertainment Peacock title (film or TV series) of all time in the first five days of its release, the NBCUniversal streaming platform announced. Previous record-holders include: Halloween Ends, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Bel-Air, and The Best Man: The Final Chapters.
Although the Five Nights At Freddy's movie was stuck in development hell, the terrifying trailer has finally arrived ahead of the October 2023 release date. Based on the video games of the same name, Five Nights At Freddy's is a supernatural horror movie that turns themed kid's restaurants like Chuck E. Cheese into pure nightmare fuel. The FNAF movie follows Mike Schmidt (Josh Hutcherson), a security guard who faces one of the most challenging nights of his life when he realizes that the animatronic mascots at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza become devious killers after midnight.
Similar to the games, the Five Nights At Freddy's movie story sees a security guard take up the night shift at the abandoned Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria. However, this turns out to be one of the most difficult nights of their life as the guard discovers that the animatronic mascots that have been left there turn into dangerous serial killers after midnight. They must then spend the rest of the night trying to survive while also learning about the pizzeria's dark history.
After undergoing reconstruction into his new form, Freddy Fazbear resumed his role as a mascot at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. However, during the nightshift, the haunted Freddy and the other animatronics engaged in a relentless pursuit to kill the nightguards. In 1993, Freddy and the animatronics cornered Phone Guy, with his Toreador March theme playing, and killed him. Throughout Mike Schmidt's tenure as a nightguard, Freddy initially remained stationed on the Show Stage during the first two nights, presumably to observe his tactics. From the third night, Freddy actively joined the others in their aggressive endeavours to harm Mike, yet despite their efforts, they were unable to terminate him due to his resourcefulness. After Following Mike's shifts, the Pizzeria closed its doors at the end of that year, leaving Freddy and the other animatronics behind.
