Plug-in Hybrid Fiat 500 swisscleandrive

Hello community

I have been a member of the newsletter of the eCars - Now Global
Community for a long time and always like to read the discussions and
news from this very inspiring and encouraging source. I have driven
the TWIKE for 13 years and am on the road with the good old Peugeot
106 electic (year 1996) since spring 2008.

We have developed a plug-in hybrid conversion kit over the past 19
months, because we thought there needs to be a product on the market
which lets you drive independantly from oil with all the comfort of
electric driving but without the the downsides of it (rangelimitation,
cost of battery amortisation). We have presented the prototype of the
brandnew thing to the public on November 4th 2009 at the Zurich Auto
Show.

The plug-in hybrid Fiat 500 swisscleandrive (ok, tesla is easyer to
spell!) is a new Fiat 500 1.2 Liter which is to be expanded by a fully
grown electric drive train with about 30 km of pure electric range.
When the batteries are empty or the driver wants to go faster, the
gasoline engine starts and synchronizes. When it is back home, it is
back to the plug, being recharged from the grid power. Like this, you
will be doing your everyday drives on electricity but never get stuck
in the middle of the forest without electricity.

The hardest part was to synchronize the technologies of the car and
the electric drive and to actually make them work together in a
logical way, easy to use for the person behind the wheel. It seems we
have followed the right track for that, as it works pretty well so
far.
Yet we are still looking for the perfect, most cost effective electric
drivetrain with a motor of a diameter of less than 160 mm and a max.
output of 80 Nm (if you can go to 13000 rpm with it) and about 30 kW
of max power. Always happy to get offers on this.
