Hello Jiri,
I would like to understand the structure/organigram of the Finnish
global and national team and understand if the same can be replicated
for national teams and also if some people (i.e the graphic designer
and the 3D CAD designer) can be "employed" trasversally into different
teams to speed-up the development of the projects.

Does anything like that exists yet?

For what I coulld understand, it is:

supervising: Jiri
tech, conversion project manager: Jukka
graphic and design: Joona
web and community managing: Santeri
3D cad enginnering: Vikke
communication and press: ??
others??

What I want to ask you, basing on your experience, is which are the
fundamental roles which can't miss into the team for the success of a
local project.
Off course supervising and conversion management, but maybe the other
roles (design of the car, CAD support, web support) can be swapped
trasversally on all national/conversion projects, for a better and
quicker interaction and global result.

which is your opinion?

thanks for your attention
Rob

Hi Rob,

..few things:

1. I am not supervising anything !! - Just throwing ideas.. :-)
(well.. I do a lot of PR stuff as well as other networking, but certainly I'm not in a position to give any orders to anyone.)

The only entity in position of making strict decisions here is the Finnish Electric Vehicle Association, which is not about to make any deliberative decisions.. The association has decided to give the eCorolla project manager free hands so far.
Mr. Janne Kjellman is the official project manager; if there should be any controversial on the conversion decisions, Janne should be the one making the decisions. So Janne is supervising the project development and watching the budget and writing a progress report for the association.

(eCorolla project is not owned by the association, althought the car is. It's because the sponsor wanted to support the project, and the association here has only an administrative supporting role for handling the money and the car ownership, since the eCars - Now! is not a legal entity capable of operating money or any kind of ownership.)

2. I think that for a project you need the mechanical and the electronics + software team / functionality.
If one wants to get the car to be seen in public, someone focused on networking, media & web stuff is handy.

3. For a professional level quality on planning, someone familiar with CAD and measurement stuff is needed.

This is just my humble obeservation.
We should actually write out better the whole working core team & functionalities. It is in the TO-DO list.

my opinion

1) I would keep an "head office" for the PR and press communications/
releases. then the global press releases in english can be translated
locally by any national group for their site and local language press
contacs.

2) Coordination of many same-level conversion/prototyping teams, so to
work contemporarly on different projects (i.e corolla in finland,
smart in italy, etc.) but sharing in real-time some results and
components (i.e. the eGUI and its software, batteries and BMS, etc.)

3) trasversal roles: CAD designer, Web designer, car designer

any other idea?
