to eCampaigning Tool for Plone
This is the fourth public release of the eCampaigning Tool. It is both
a feature and bug fix release. Release highlights include a recent
actions listing, new portlets, a nice progress bar of actions taken so
far, even more advanced per-user & per-step flexibility and
customizability. It is also more secure, stable and user friendly than
any previous release. Anyone using an earlier version is urged to
upgrade.

The release is available for download at http://plone.org/products/ecampaigning-tool/releases/0.2
; both zipped & gzipped & tar'd packages are made available for
windows & unix/linux users, respectively.

Improvements and fixes:

- Added suite of progress bars styles from Project Progress product
and removed original fixed-width progress bar
- Added session timeout handling
- Added support for showing portlets with selected steps only, and
some example portlets
- Made parsed tracking variables available via session (for use in
field display conditions etc)
- Added some protection against session buildup due to search
engine bots
- New feature (plone 2.5 and up): list x recent actions taken,
including those from related editions (ones with same parent)
- Uses GenericSetup (just for setting up things required by the new
feature)
- Fixed data export character encoding issue (it is now assumed
record content is encoded in site encoding)
- Tightened data access security
- Enabled setting content as default view for editions (useful for
pre/post launch pages)
- Fixed portlet link & action (record) count
- Fixed links in outgoing emails (broken by a kupu transform
change)
- Fixed browser IP HTTP header selection
- Fixed (Multi)SelectionWidget validation in case of nothing
selected
- Enabled registry submittal regardless of edition quality
- Added status message while the action is not published
- Made step, layout element & blocks non-workflowable

Hi Everyone,

As you will have seen from Petri, there is a new release of the
eCampaigning Tool (0.2 release candidate). Since over the last months
you have raised various issues and request, I thought I'd address how
those relate to this release below.

1) Sisi had problems upgrading from the previous version - so the
instructions below might help if you are upgrading from a past
version:
http://www.fairsay.com/labs/ectool/docs/Upgrading
(we couldn't replicate the problem, but suspect this is the issue - so
if you face an upgrade problem and this solves it, update the wiki or
let us know)

2) Primoz asked how to publicly list action takers. This is now
enabled in this release and can be seen via the 'recent actions' tab
or one of the portlets (only works within ac action edition)

3) Primoz also asked about portlets and while the portlets have all
been updated and some added, one with the progress bar in it has not
yet been added - this will be in the next version.
See more about the portlets at:
http://www.fairsay.com/labs/ectool/docs/ActionPortlets

4) Primoz also asked about increasing the performance and while
nothing has been done directly to change that (since there are
fundamental changes needed due to the underlying Plone architecture),
if you are using the optional MailDropHost product for your sent
emails, taking each action will be slower. See:
http://www.fairsay.com/labs/ectool/docs/InstallAndConfigure#adding-mai
ldrophost-optional

(Primoz : since you use Plone 2.1.x this new version may not work for
you - but you could back-port changes)

I think that is most of them...

Cheers,

Duane
