Subject: Call for Presentations --
PA-NAME Conference -- April 4-5, 2008
The 10th annual conference of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Association for Multicultural Education is being held at Temple University on April 4 & 5, 2008. The theme of the conference is How Far Have We Come and Where Are We Going?: A Forty Year Retrospective on the Movement for Multicultural Education. The keynote speaker for the conference will be Dr. Patricia Hill Collins, distinguished University Professor of Sociology at the University of Maryland, College Park, who came to national attention for her book Black Feminist Thought: Knowledge, Consciousness and the Politics of Empowerment and is widely regarded as one of America’s leading scholars on multiculturalism, race and gender.
The PA-NAME conference is the premier and most inclusive conference in the Mid-Atlantic region focusing on multiculturalism and diversity. The conference is geared towards administrators, faculty, teachers and students in post-secondary, elementary and secondary educational institutions, corporate leaders, entrepreneurs, community leaders, politicians and social service advocates.
PA-NAME is soliciting presentation proposals for workshops and posters for this conference. Presentations should be designed to analyze and generate conversation addressing various conference workshop themes. In order to recognize the exceptional work that students have been doing to support multiculturalism, PA-NAME will be giving awards to the best student poster presentations.
The deadline for consideration for received proposals is December 13, 2007. Student Poster Session deadline is November 15, 2007. Information related to the Call for Proposals, Poster Session and Conference Registration can be downloaded from www.temple.edu/omca/sss/panamehome.htm.
Sincerely,
