Adam -- You mentioned there is the ability to play audio on several
PCs around the house at once via a network to simulate a whole house
audio system. Can you give me some details.

I think that was me that mentioned that. Pulse Audio does it out of the
box:

You can also use the pulse audio device chooser. If you have the avahi
service turned on for ZeroConfig service discovery, the different "sinks"
on your network will automatically be detected and displayed. Just select
the one you want and that is where the sound will go.
