Paul, I would imagine that you could remove a lot of complexity from
ec2onrails to have it use RDS instead of maintaining/managing it's own
MySQL instance. Perhaps I'll clone your latest and greatest, and see
what's involved in getting ec2onrails to work with RDS......

I haven't had a chance to try it, but if anyone does let me know what the issues are.

I for one would be all over RDS+ec2onrails... any progress on this?
