 ***

Hi Everyone,

On Tuesday the 29th of October, we will be running the "Shut up Legs!" 12 hour indoor rowing marathon. The aim is to be a fundraiser event in conjunction with advertising our sport, our club and our upcoming open day on the 2nd of November.

The Men’s A Crew double that is currently training will be teaming up to compete against the rest of the club. Our Chairmen, Dylan Rishworth and Christopher Osmond will each be rowing 4 x 90 minute pieces, while the rest of the club will take on 1 x 30 minute time slot to try and beat them. Please contact Wade to book one of the 24 available time slots (list of time slots attached). Please note, if you do a 30 minute time slot, you get a free entry into the hamper prize.

The event will take place from 7am to 7pm at the Kraal. During the lunch hour, we will be having some 500m races for Students to try and beat our rowers. If they manage to beat our rowers, they will get some kind of NMMU branded kit as a prize.

There will also be a hamper competition to be sold for R10 an entry, the person who guesses the winner and has the closest margin that they win by, will win the hamper (example of entry sheet is attached). We are still working on building up the hamper prize, so far it consists of some futurelife, some redbull and some booze (+-R400 value) - we will confirm the total hamper value and products by Friday so that you can start selling hamper entries to friends and family on the weekend, but please start talking about it now so we can get the word out.

The way the hamper entries will work is that you must sms/whatsapp me on 072 739 2879 you or your friends entry (i.e. Name, Contact Number, Winner, Distance won by). Once i receive the money for that entry (Free if you do a 30 minute time slot), I will enter them on the official hamper competition sheet.

If anyone has any corporate contacts that would like to sponsor an amount of rands per km rowed over the whole event, they would be allowed to have their banners/advertising put up with our event. (The total mileage rowed will probably come to +-200km). Also if anyone has any contacts that could add something to our hamper prize, please let Wade or Kristen know.

Regards,
NMMURC Comm
