Dear all,
As some of you may already know, there are two important OA Book Usage Data Trust community events coming up in November that you can sign up for. Please find the details for both below.
Online focus groups, November 15th
The OAEBUDT effort is currently developing an OA Book Usage Data Exchange and Stewardship Rulebook to specify the principles that generate trust through OAEBUDT participation, usage data management, processing, and provision. As a key component in this process, we would like to hear feedback from the community on these drafted principles to ensure they are developed by listening to all the different perspectives.
I invite you to join one of two November 15th focus groups to discuss key rulebook sections that have emerged over a nine-month process and provide your feedback.
November 15th at 9.30 AM CET / 8.30 AM UTC / 3.30 AM EDT
November 15th at 4 PM CET / 3 PM UTC / 10 AM EDT
Register for a session on this form and a calendar invitation will be sent.
Charleston in-person pre-conference workshop, November 7th
The ‘Exploring Sustainability for Global OA Book Usage Data Trust Infrastructure’ Charleston pre-conference workshop invites OA usage stakeholders to learn what the Data Trust IDS service will provide, to then explore and evaluate ways to sustain such a trusted, neutral data intermediary infrastructure within the scholarly publishing ecosystem. Specifically, participants will:
Learn about the OAEBUDT effort and the IDS infrastructure;
Consider the strengths and weaknesses of various cost-recovery oriented revenue generation options for the OAEBUDT so that it can develop in line with the Sustainability Principles of Open Scholarly Infrastructure;
Reflect on how sustainability models might impact trust, neutrality, and global participation;
Explore mitigation strategies that address concerns.
The workshop will take place on November 7th, 1:00 - 4:00 pm local EDT time. Thanks to support from the Mellon Foundation, there is no registration fee for this pre-conference workshop.
