to Health Evidence Knowledge Accelerator (HEvKA)

7 people (AEW, BA, CE, KOTT, KS, TA, YM) participated in up to 2 active working group meetings.

The EBMonFHIR Implementation Guide Working Group (a CDS EBMonFHIR sub-WG) made substantial changes to the Evidence Based Medicine on FHIR Implementation Guide, based on insights learned from the “Dissolve-E: FHIR Implementation Guide for the AWMF Guideline Registry” which is an implementation guide being developed that uses the EBMonFHIR IG as its base profiles.   Specifically, we learned that for CertaintyOfEvidence and RiskOfBias Profiles there is a desire to specify the rating system used in addition to specifying the rating values. We therefore created new artifacts including:

  1. EvidenceAssessment Profile of ArtifactAssessment for Evidence Based Medicine IG. The EvidenceAssessment Profile is used for expression of any aspect of the certainty or quality of an Evidence artifact. The EvidenceAssessment Profile includes a content instance with type set to “Rating System” and classifier having extensible binding to the Evidence Rating System Classifier Codes Value Set.
  2. Evidence Rating System Classifier Codes Value Set is Codes for use with the EvidenceAssessment Profile, to provide values for the content.classifier element where content.type is Rating System. The values are those included in the Evidence Rating System Classifier Code System.
  3. Evidence Rating System Classifier Code System initially contains 13 concepts, 11 of which were included in the “Dissolve-E: FHIR Implementation Guide for the AWMF Guideline Registry” and 2 of which were added to cover commonly used risk of bias assessment systems.

The Making Guidelines Computable Working Group started revisions to the “Using The Malaria Guideline in Computable Form as a healthcare worker” instructions which starts with: Access the Guideline Viewing Tool https://FEvIR.net/MalariaGuidelinesCameroon. In the process, after observing challenges with guideline access in Cameroon, we increased the ‘timeout’ period from 30 seconds to 2 minutes to allow the guideline to load fully.
