The Content Classification and Tools Development Work Group discussed plans for the Systematic Meta-Review Project which includes:

  1. Joanne, Bhagvan, Rachel and Tamara will continue to test the article screening process but it is looking to be efficient and we feel prepared to start the formal project next week.
  2. Joanne to draft a ready-for-submission protocol and share with the group tomorrow.
  3. Monday December 14 we hope to confirm the protocol is ready for submission, then post to OSF, PROSPERO, and Systematic Reviews for publication of the protocol.
  4. Tuesday December 15 conduct the actual searches for the project and start the actual screening effort
  5. Build Systematic Review Results Reporter by early January.
  6. Start data extraction in January.

The group also took an opportunity to review the Risk of Bias Code System developments, and further improved the Simplified/Refactored Risk of Bias Code System Concept List with the following changes:

  1. Renamed Interpretive Rationale Bias to Interpretive Reporting Bias, and added Spin Bias as an alternate term for it.
  2. Moved Positive results bias from being subordinate to Publication Bias and included it in Interpretive Reporting Bias
  3. Added Publication Bias as a new term under Reporting Bias
  4. Revised “Publication Bias” that was under “Study Selection Bias” to become Publication Bias affecting study selection
  5. Moved Synthesis Information Bias (and its 4 children) from Detection Bias/Information Bias to Synthesis Bias

Tomorrow in the Risk of Bias Code System Steering Group meeting at 9 am Eastern we will work on developing a publication about this.

The Project Management Group reviewed and scheduled efforts around multiple communications developments including the 2 noted above, the article submitted to Journal of Biomedical Informatics and minor revisions needed, and preparation for Connectathon 26 Orientation which is scheduled for Monday December 14 at 10 am Eastern.
