Training with non rectangular images

Hi all,

I am trying to do some testing using images from certain telescope cameras, and the main problem I'm finding is that pixels are not squared, as the camera is a circle and pixels hexagons.

Would it be possible to use one dimensional arrays (for example 16384x1 instead of 256*256) and still have the same separation power?
