Dear all,

I have a few questions related to release versioning of uniprot in the scope of REST API.
  1. Is there any way to request for specific release version inside of API?
  2. Is there any way to request for the list of all available releases and .xsd of them?
Thank you very much for your impressive work!

Best,
Pavel Sinitcyn

Hi

Your first question:
Do you mean specific release version of a certain UniProt entry? or current UniProt release version?

Your second question:
Do you mean that you want fetch several versions of a UniProt entry?
By the way, our UniProt XML data structure is very stable, we have not change XML xsd for several years

Hi Jie,

  1. I mean specific UniProt release version, in general - release-2015_04 or release-2018_05, etc. Just imagine that you made analysis on release-2015_04 and published your article. Next, after 3 years somebody wants to reproduce your result, but s/he can request just for current release through API.
  2. No, I want just to ask protein_rest_api which release versions of uniprot are exposed. I have two option here - either I am hard-coding all release versions of uniprot in a software and updating it synchronously with you (which is bad because we are all lazy and have bad memory), either software beforehand is asking uniprot_api for the list of all release versions and giving to user a chance to select one of them.
Best,
Pavel
