Woohoo - no more "terrible two's" :)

Ebean is 3 years old
-------------------------------
Yes, 3 years ago the first version of Ebean was downloadable
from Sourceforge. We are now 20 versions and about 4800 file
downloads (dist, example etc) later.

Should Ebean Exist?
-------------------------------
The reasons for Ebean existing haven't changed. It's "session-less"
architecture is the fundamental difference compared with the JPA
implementations - realistically this difference is not going to go away.

Ultimately Ebean exists to make your (and our) lives easier. I believe
JPA is ok but I also believe Ebean is *MUCH* easier to use.

Governance
------------------
For those interested Ebean has 3 committers - Eddie, Mario and Rob.
Together we discuss issues and make decisions about features etc.
We are probably the 3 biggest users of Ebean as well so we have a
vested interest in making it work well.

Quality - integration tests
-------------------------------------
The addition of DDL generation support has really enabled a much
improved testing of Ebean. This includes running all the tests against
H2, Oracle, MySql and Postgres.

There are no excuses for not having a top quality builds that will work
well against those DB's.

All the little things
--------------------------
All the little things add up. Personally, I'm still learning ... and certainly
keen to hear about any little improvement that can be made. Documentation,
examples, behavior etc.

Over the past 3 years many people have made lots of little comments and
questions. All of those have added up to what I think is a pretty good API...
and better product - so thanks to all those people :)

Happy birthday Ebean.

Cheers, Rob.

Happy Birthday Ebean!

The way Ebean evovled is terrific and I am happy to be member of this
team.

Sure, it is hard to prevail against the "big" players in the JPA
market, but I've never seen a library behave so clever in tuning your
queries with autofetch and lazy loading. Sometimes I am scared ;-)
Everyone should have a look at Ebean. :-)

Very well done!

Ciao,
Mario

Whoot!

I've been using Ebean for some months now and using it is quite easy!
Hoping to use the auto tuning soon!
