Sibley Park Workday, August 9, 9 am - 12 noon

We will work in at least partial shade near Round Top Creek.  Despite some light herbicide spraying by park staff earlier this year, we have a lot of new sprouts that got a head start while we were not weeding.

In addition to the usual Genista sprouts, Conium maculatum (poison hemlock) and Carduus pycnocephalus (Italian thistle) have made inroads where we cleared out the French broom.  

Bring water and gloves if you have them, but we can provide loaner tools and gloves as needed.

Huckleberry Park Workday, August 17, 9:30 am - 12 noon

In hot, sunny weather, we will probably attack Vinca intrusions on the eastern side of the park--also a good work site in the fog because the lower elevation will keep us out of the drizzle.  

If August 17 is neither scorching nor foggy, then we'll decide on the day's work site when we meet in the main parking lot off of Skyline.

Even if you're not pulling weeds, you might want to stop by Huckleberry Park to enjoy the long bloom of  Holodiscus discolor (ocean spray).
