Hi All!
Yesterday was a great day. The temperature dropped and gardeners were everywhere. Supalsiri and his family brought his daughter's super size cabbage over to the Senior Center. It weighed about 25 lbs.It was truly amazing!!! I gave out squash and radishes and there were beans to pick. Many people took the opportunity to weed . Bunny (not the one with the big ears) went wild and pulled over three wheel barrows full of weeds from the paths. Dave has upgraded the strawberry patch and hopefully will turn in his rhubarb recipe. Bill put in some gladiolas and added cosmos and other flowers to the outside of the garden as Theresa did a few weeks back. Melons and pumpkins have been planted in the side yard and people have been aiding in watering, Mark, Supalsiri, Katherine, Mrs, Lee, Tony and many others. Martin has set up hose to water his experiment. He has planted corn in Native American fashion, using a fish as fertilizer. The corn will grow and beans and squash will grow up the stalk!
Try to get to the garden! Weed and pick your crops. While they are few and far between, some gardens have been neglected. Hopefully these people are ok but just too busy. Please let the board know if you need help or have decided to give up the garden. The herb garden could use some weeding. The potatoes need to be hilled. They were planted in troughs so the earth should be pushed down over them. There is always something to do if you have a moment stop by.
See you in the garden !
Tony
