Hi All,
I have tried and been fairly successful at thanking all the people in the garden that help make it a better place. I try to mention those who go above and beyond what they have or need to do. When I filled out the Fair form I insisted on writing in EB Community Garden. It appears both above and below my name. I bought the plant raised it in my greenhouse then transplanted it to the garden. Others watered, others as well a myself weeded so we all deserve the credit. The people who weed their own gardens and nearby paths deserve praise also.
Now there are those who do nothing and expect results. I heard one person who I know only came to the garden about 4 times tell her children when she looked over her weed choked garden with falling rotted tomatoes say well maybe we'll do better next year.. In some cases there are extenuating circumstances, people become ill or infirm and sometimes it's temporary. In August we all lose a bit of control we step away to vacation or it's just toooo hot and humid.. But it's obvious that we have done things till recently. We need to take a second look at the rules and enforce them Some one should be able to e-mail gardeners who seem to have abandoned their plots and ask if they are ok or need some temporary help to maintain things, in a non embarrassing manner. If they are fine and have just lost interest they should be asked to relinquish their plot and people who have been waiting should get an opportunity to plant. This is just my opinion. If this is being done great, but it does not appear to be working at least with some plots . It's good to see the vast majority of us are having a good time and enjoying the fruits (pun) of our labor while sharing with others.
See you at the garden!
Tony
