Hi All,
While there is no need to water today and possibly tomorrow it would be good to check your stakes. Due to the heavy rain, heavy fruit and wind many tomato cages have fallen over or at least tilted. Plot H 5 has a good contender for largest tomato but it was practically laying in the path until I raised it up a bit, now it needs heavy duty stakes, later possibly some large burgers. It is nice working weather, the strong wind in the garden yesterday morning after the rain was earthy and moist like a tropical island breeze . It is good weeding weather, it is cool enough to work and the ground has loosened up a bit due to the rain.
I have never entered but the county fair will be here in a week (August 6th)and if it's not too late you may want to enter that too large zucchini or almost anything you've grown.Sat July 28th 10 AM till 4 PM Rutgers Gardens is having an open house and wine tasting adults $5, children under 13 $2. There are vendors ,plant sales and an ask an expert clinic as well as childrens activities , garden tours and additional fees for wine tasting. Both events are enjoyable, something different to do and garden related!
See you in the garden!
Tony
