LeBronJames- This one was easy. Lebron is the all-time what if of the NBA Dunk contest. Some say he would just be okay, as he is an in-game dunker and not really a contest/show dunker. Others say, well, he won the dunk contest in high school and is probably physically capable of completing any complicated dunk. We will for sure never know, even though he said he would be in a bunch of them, he never actually was.

Grant Hill- Pre-injury Grant Hill was supposed to have competed in the 1997 NBA All Star weekend dunk contest, which incase you forgot, was the one Kobe had won. Grant Hill was initially on the dunkers list, but then dropped out. The NBA canceled the dunk contest the next year and then the injuries started to pile up on the former Duke forward and then that was that as far as the dunk contest goes. A Kobe Bryant vs. Grant Hill dunk off would have been pretty interesting.

Marko Millic- So, this guy you may have never heard of. This 6-6 forward was a former Slovenian professional who was drafted by the 76ers in 1997. He was then shipped to Phoenix where he played in limited amounts for two seasons. What makes him so qualified for this list? Well, he won a few European dunk contests in the 1990s by jumping over cars. And we mean clearing the convertible, not the Blake Griffin way.

Corey Benjamin- Remember that guy who beat out Kobe Bryant in the McDonalds All-American dunk contest? That was former Chicago Bulls guard Corey Benjamin. Now, not many videos of Benjamin exist, but trust us when we say that he could jump out of the gym. Corey played for the Bulls from 1998 to 2001, but never once entered the dunk contest.

Mickael Pietrus- Air France was just an all around amazing dunker. He could dunk with his left as easily as with his right or with both hands. Could also leap off one foot or two feet just as effective. Has a whole high-light reel of sick game dunks during his many NBA years. Never once competed at the All-Star weekend dunk contest. We would have liked to see it.

Mario Hezonja- Was supposed to be the winner of the 2016 NBA dunk contest, which would have made an already crazy dunk contest even more interesting. Could Mario Hezonja have either beaten out Aaron Gordon or Zach Lavine? Who knows, we can only speculate at this point. Sources say that he went and completed each dunk Aaron Gordon completed in the dunk contest in practice the next day. He had guaranteed a win in the dunk contest, but then withdrew his name. He has said that if the NBA does invite him to compete that he will in the future.

On a list of the most creative dunks, this might rank No. 1. In 2008, then-Minnesota Timberwolves guard Rashad McCants placed a cupcake on the back of the rim and lit a candle that was on top of the pastry.

After ditching his Magic jersey for a Superman shirt and cape, Dwight Howard jumped from a couple of feet inside in the free throw line, caught a pass that was thrown over the backboard by teammate Jameer Nelson and literally chucked the ball through the hoop.

If Howard had actually reached the rim, it would be the undisputed greatest dunk in event history. Despite it not technically being a dunk, Howard still received a 50 and went on to win the competition.

Standing behind the basket, then-Philadelphia 76ers teammate Allen Iverson threw the ball off the backboard to Iguodala, who caught it, ducked under the bottom of the backcourt and slammed home a reverse jam.

Spud Webb did the unthinkable in the 1986 contest, dethroning reigning champion and then-Atlanta Hawks teammate Dominique Wilkins. Webb threw down a variety of great dunks, but his 360 one-handed jam was the best of the bunch.

First, Stuff the Magic Dragon spun in circles on a hoverboard while holding the ball out in the paint. The then-Magic forward timed his run perfectly as he grabbed the ball from the mascot in mid-air, spun around and slammed down a one-handed jam. Gordon also paid homage to Karl Malone by putting one of his hands behind his head.

In the 1976 ABA Slam Dunk Contest, then-New York Nets forward Julius Erving took off from the free throw line for an iconic one-handed jam. Over a decade later, Erving helped Michael Jordan defend his NBA Slam Dunk Contest crown.

Just three years after Dominique Wilkins outlasted Jordan, the two high fliers once again found themselves in a Slam Dunk Contest battle in 1988. Jordan needed at least 49 points on his final attempt to repeat as champ, and he found inspiration in the crowd from Dr. J.

Stuff the Magic Dragon stood near the basket with the ball over its head. Gordon jumped over the mascot with his body facing away from the rim, grabbed the ball with his right hand, put it under his legs and dunked it with his left all in one fluid, mind-blowing motion.

Get ready to witness the most exciting and thrilling Slam Dunk Contest of the year! As one of the highlights of the NBA All-Star Saturday Night, this year's contest will be held on February 18 at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City. Basketball enthusiasts from all around the world are looking forward to seeing the high-flying antics of the four new participants who will compete for the championship title.

Judging the Slam Dunk Contest will be five of the most legendary names in the sport. Jamal Crawford, Lisa Leslie, Karl Malone, Harold Miner, and Dominique Wilkins will be the ones to determine the winner of the contest. All of these judges have made significant contributions to the sport, and they are more than qualified to assess the skills and abilities of the participants.

The format for the Slam Dunk Contest is simple yet effective. The four participants will each attempt two rounds of dunks, with each dunk being scored from 40 to 50 points. Each player has 90 seconds to attempt the dunk, with a limit of three dunk attempts per round.

The two players with the highest composite scores will advance to the final round, where they will attempt two more dunks, and the player with the highest composite score will be crowned the champion.

As for the previous champions, the list is long and impressive. Legends like Michael Jordan, Dominique Wilkins, and Kobe Bryant have all won the Slam Dunk Contest. Most recently, Anfernee Simons won the title in 2021, and fans are eager to see who will be crowned the champion this year.

The Slam Dunk Contest is a must-watch event for basketball fans. With the best dunkers from around the league vying for the championship title, this year's contest is sure to be an unforgettable experience. Mark your calendars for February 18, and get ready for an incredible night of high-flying, gravity-defying dunks.

While the NBA Dunk Contest might not be what it once was, the State Farm All-Star Saturday Night's final event will still showcase some of the game's more talented high flyers. New York's Jericho Sims, Houston's Kenyan Martin Jr., Philadelphia's Mac McClung, and New Orleans' Trey Murphy III look to etch themselves into the history books with a memorable performance in 2023.

Per DraftKings Sportsbook, Sims currently sits as the odds-on favorite at +170. Sims replaced Portland Trail Blazers' rookie Shaedon Sharpe after Sharpe bowed out to focus more of his attention on the second half of the regular season.

Sims is only averaging 16.3 minutes per game with the Knicks this season, but the ex-Texas Longhorn can get up with the best of them. It's not too surprising to see him listed as the dunker to beat, but in terms of our best bets for the event, we'll look elsewhere.

Behind Sims is Martin Jr. (+210), who's started 25 games this season for Houston, averaging 26.3 minutes per game. Just like the rest of the field, Martin Jr.'s racked up numerous in-game highlight reel dunks, so seeing the third-year wing priced with the second-highest odds isn't too surprising, either. We're still not betting on either Sims or Martin Jr. to win the 2023 dunk contest, though, opting for the two longer shots for our best bets.
