3. R&R Applications - ddl 7th of January 22:00
Please, remember about the deadline which is 22:00 Tuesday 7th Jan. Similarly to the last year, we will not accept any late applications.
Every national conference, there is a lot of emotions around the R&R, a lot of discussions and expectations from members towards winning the awards. I'd like to share some thoughts and feelings with you:
- The award is not the one and only evidence that your LC is great and that MC appreciates your effort. Sometimes I feel that our members feel that if they don't get the awards, they are not good enough or that MC doesn't appreciate the work you do. Please know, that we appreciate all your work. The goals may be achieved or not but we are deeply thankful for all the effort you put to strive for AIESEC's purpose, regardless all your other responsibilities in life!
- Please remember, that if your LC gets an award, it means you are awesome and we can learn from you. But if you don't get the award, it doesn't mean anything bad about you. Then you should be your own judge, celebrate what your successes are and admit should be improved next time. I wish all the LCs celebrate in the Award Night. Receiving awards or not.
- Recently, I've heard that some LCVPs or LCPs were approaching my MCVPs discussing about the awards criteria. MC members didn't want to change the criteria so you and your members might have felt that MC is stubborn, unfair, doesn't appreciate LCs, etc.
- If you ask me what I think, I feel that we still need to improve to announce the R&R criteria as soon as possible in the beginning of the term because their role is to drive certain behaviours and actions all term long. I see no point in adjusting or changing the criteria later, especially not right before the award night because it doesn't contribute to the R&R objectives. If you still don't agree with any of the criteria, please don't blame my MCVPs for being stubborn. I take full responsibility for the R&R criteria and I apologize if it doesn't reach your expectations.
I have a big request to you to help me in building the right mindset of your members towards the Award Night. Let's make it exactly the way it should be!
- To me, the award night is for AIESEC members to listen to the stories of success shared on the stage, to celebrate and congratulate (with honesty from their hearts) those who would have a chance to receive awards. It made me really sad when I saw many times in the past that only the LC who received the award was happy and members of other LCs were disappointed, upset or indifferent. Last Ignite, in the middle of the Award Night we changed the attitude and started cheering up the winners. I would be happy to see us this way also!.
6. What is your MC working on?
The ILEAD is coming veeery close! On Monday the MC team is meeting the national BoA. Queenie and Vyx are already in Hanoi to work with our partners and start preparation to ILEAD, Duong is already on the way! On Tuesday I'm flying to Hanoi to meet Mr. Tom - our BoA member who cannot join the meeting in HCMC on Monday. Then, on Wednesday the entire MC team is flying to Hanoi and we start the faci meeting on Thursday, together with Chuoi, Auslyn, James, Ragnar and our great chair! :)
The time before ILEAD is always very intense and a bit stressful, many ongoing projects to finilize, MCP candidates are preparing their speeches, deadlines for session outlines and presentations... Be aware that we are doing our best to give you the conference where you can reconnect with other members, learn about the national direction for all programmes, gain new soft skills and have reflection about your leadership journey.
>>We are hoping that you and your members will do your best and be proactive to make the conference fun, energetic and emotional by taking active role in creating this experience, contributing to sessions, approaching faci and chair with your ideas how you can contribute to make it better :) Please, help us in building this attitude among your delegates!
8 Thoughts from me
Chuoi has asked recently how to transit responsibilities of the EB to the elect EB gradually. I believe it's good to keep it simple.
1) Define the current main responsibilities of a LCVP until the end of the term (everything that he/she needs to take care of)
2) Then create a plan how in regular periods of time from now until the beginning of the new term, the elected LCVP is taking these responsibilities one by one (every week or every 2 weeks take a new responsibility)
Then it's clear what is still a role of the current and what is the elect's role. Moreover, I think it's important that from now on, all important decisions are made including the new EB (so they learn how to make decisions) or at least the elect LCP.
Finally, if we talk only about transitioning the responsibilities, it automatically creates the attitude that we are counting the days to leave the term. That's why I believe it's more important to realize that the current EB has till one quarter (25%) of their term! It's a lot of time to build something for the LC that you will feel proud of. That's why I think the best way to sit with the current EB and decide about the legacy you will build in the Q1 of 2014 as the current EB while your successors are gradually taking over your everyday responsibilities. Look at it as an opportunity - if you have less duties within your usual responsibilities, you have more capacity to build something in your LC that you usually didn't have enough time for!
Wish you good luck in working as 2 EB teams. Would that bring 100% more results? I believe it can :)
Cảm ơn EB, phản hồi đủ nhanh :)Ở dưới share với mọi người sharing from MC về Award night, ILEAD & How to transit responsibilities to our successor:3. R&R Applications - ddl 7th of January 22:00
