I am trying out EazyDraw and considering it as the 2D drawing program
I will use for creating applique patterns. Each applique needs to
have a 1/4 inch allowance added around the object. I have found in
some other drawing programs and CAD programs a feature called the
OFFSET command, which allows you to select entities (lines, arcs,
circles, polygons, etc) and then add a line offset a specified
distance from the selected entities. Does anyone know if that feature
is available in ED? Thanks.

Sorry - I accidentally deleted Pat's post -- restart.

This feature needs to be added. You can certainly accomplish this in
EazyDraw but the "feature" is not named and packaged as "offset".

A) You can use a Ribbon or Wall Path. This is on the Technical tool
palette. Then you draw both a line and the offset at the same time.
This is more powerful than the old "offset" commands because as you
draw you are interactivly managing the critical issues of twists,
corners and joints. Offsetting is trivial for many shapes but if there
are corners, pinches, twists, .. in your design they are not well
defined but the wall and ribbon tools provide feedback here and show
you the results as you draw.

B) Use "Convert To Filled Shape" - this will give you a very well
behaved "Fill Only" graphic with or applique border.

Dave,
Thanks for your help. I am glad to know that you are working on the
offset/inset line option. For the designing I am doing EazyDraw is
wonderful. I am really happy I found this program, however, for some
of my designing the offset function is essential for me to complete my
drawings. I will use EazyDraw for some of my designs and wait for the
function to be added.
