Dear Friends,

I hope you're enjoying the summer! I’m writing to share some exciting news and to ask for your help in spreading the word to your friends and family. I am launching a new business called PhysPop – simple and fun monthly science kits for preschoolers.

The idea hatched out of a desire to help give our kids the best start in life. Imran and I are lucky to have education experts in our family, and through their wisdom and our own experience as parents, we've learned a lot about how children develop in the early years. While older kids can be taught to, the younger brain learns by doing.

In my quest to provide Maryam and Isra with fun learning opportunities, I bought a book of science activities for preschoolers. We picked a couple of experiments that looked fun but the directions weren’t always intuitive and required a trip to Michael’s to buy the popsicle sticks, another to Safeway to buy the food coloring and a third back again to Michael's because I forgot to pick up the bendy straws. Needless to say, we didn’t get far into the book! I realized there are probably other parents out there in a similar situation who want to spend quality time with their kids creating experiences that inspire learning but operate on limited time.

Hence the idea for PhysPop was born. To design the kits, I've teamed up with TechShop "maker space" designers, education experts and preschool teachers. We are currently in the prelaunch phase.
