The way to get around this legally is to simply start over. When you are ready to sysprep and capture the image, STOP, clone the drive to a spare drive (clonezilla?), then sysprep. When you need to make changes, just make them to the cloned image, then before you sysprep it, STOP, clone it to the other drive.

IMHO, you should start from scratch. Multiple syspreps always cause problems. Take an image of the drive BEFORE and AFTER you sysprep it. That way you can always make changes to the pre - sysprepped image.

Tried your method on a Win7 image that was sysprep-ed three times, all similar images, just more stuff added and same hardware. after following your steps, it worked like a charm. Thanks for saving me a bunch of time!

Download Majic Jellybean Keyfinder. Run it on your windows installation before sysprepping to get your product key, you will need this if you get a product key error after following the instructions at this link.

An install of Windows 7 without an activation key allows for 30 days of usage. This can however be extended up to 120 days by using the following slmgr (Software Licensing Management Tool) command to rearm or reset the 30 day trial. slmgr...

Not sure if this belongs here because its not technically a 'programming' question, but i'm writing a small application that displays windows activation information by parsing the output of the slmgr.vbs script.

Now in my current system (which is activated), when I run the slmgr.vbs -dlv command it says Remaining Windows rearm count: 3 Makes sense, since from what I've read you can use the -rearm command a total of 3 times. And I haven't run it on my computer ever.

With Trial Windows 7 the rearm count is set to 4 and once the trail converts to full version the same rearm count is set to 3 default. Or when you install full version of Windows the rearm count is set 3 by default.

Notice the second to last line shows that I only have 1 more remaining rearm, after which the software will expire. However there is a small trick that allows you to reset the rearm count back to 4. To do this you need delete the registry key which contains the Last Rearm Time, however this key can not be deleted or modified during a normal user session. To delete the key you will need to run the following commands in the windows recovery console.

After rebooting you may get a message stating that this product is not genuine. This can be ignored. Running `slmgr /dlv` again will confirm that the rearm count has been increased again, thereby giving you another 120 days worth of windows use.

Windows 7 allows user to rearm 3 times (4 actually where one is used on installed automatically), where rearm resets the activation-free allowance period back to 30 days. With 3 rearms, plus the 30 days free usage period right after installation, users can potentially use and run Windows 7 for free for up to 120 days, as trial or evaluation period. After each rearm is performed, the rearm count available is reduced by 1, and when the rearm count left reaches 0, users cannot rearm the system to reset the activation grace period anymore. If the activation is not done by now, system will be labeled as non-genuine status with various annoyances including black desktop and frequent warning messages to activate.

Hackers have managed to find a method to reset rearm count in Windows 7 so that the free remaining rearm count will be back to 4, allowing the whole cycle of rearming and resetting Windows 7 activation grace period to be done again, for infinity times. The hack, when done properly, can make Windows 7 be used forever, without activation, and without any activation crack. In this case, the license status for Windows 7 stays indefinitely in initial grace period, which is genuine status when validated by WGA (Windows Genuine Advantage) validation tool.

The main problem is that the registry key cannot be accessed from within Windows operating system, and thus the operation has to be done from within WinRE (Windows Recovery Environment) or WinPE (Windows Pre-installation Environment). To access WinRE or WinPE, a reboot of computer is required.

After hard works by various peple such as timesurfer, MasterDisaster, 7ekn00, PAYMYRENT, mcclausky, tuvi123, MadSheep!, BOX and sam3971 at My Digital Life forums, a few automated tools (with minimal manual steps) have been developed in the name of InfiniteRearm4, Windows7 Rearm4 and Windows 7 Rearm Forever, collectively can be known as rearm count reset utilities.

Note: In the WinRE and the WinPE, the drive letter of the OS changes from C: to D: if and only if you have the System Reserved partition, otherwise it is C: drive.

  • Reboot the system.
  • After logon, ignore the watermark and any non-genuine warnings and then wait for a while till a message box is displayed.
  • Optionally, perform one or more of the following actions:
    1. The Rearm task that is installed will run every 29 days on schedule from the time you installed it. If the scheduled time is missed, the rearm task will not execute. To make it run automatically if the schedule is missed, do the following steps:
      1. Type Task Scheduler in the Start Search, and hit Enter to open it.
      2. Select Task Scheduler Library in the left pane.
      3. In the Active Tasks window, double click on the Rearm task, then at the right panel under Selected Item click Properties. then in the Rearm Properties window then click Select the Settings Tab
      4. In the Rearm Properties window, select Settings tab.
      5. Check the Run task as soon as possible if the scheduled start is missed option.
      6. Click on OK and close Task Scheduler.
    2. Click on Check Rearm Task button to see if task is ready.
    3. Click on Check Rearms button to see how many rearms remaining.
    4. Click on Manually Rearm button to rearm.
    5. Click on Uninstall button to uninstall the program.
  • Tip 1: Above steps do not require a Windows 7 DVD, and thus user is required to enter login credentials. Using the Windows installation disc or Windows 7 System Repair Disc to boot into WinPE does not require user to enter login credentials.

Interesting to note that the unlimited rearm hack does not work in Windows Vista, as the vulnerability does not exist in Windows Vista. The WPA registry key was part of Windows XP activation process, but was removed in Windows Vista when activation scheme changed to Software Licensing. WPA registry key was re-added when switched to Software Protection Platform in Windows 7.

After installing Windows 7, and before activation, the operating system will run in an Initial Grace Period license status for 30 days. When this grace period expires, users can rearm Windows 7 for an additional 30 days, and do this up to 3 times, effectively allowing the OS to run legally for 120 days without a genuine product key.

When a user uses up all three rearms available rearms, the only option left is to enter a genuine product key to activate Windows 7, or leave the operating system in a crippled, non-genuine state. Users will then be subjected to certain annoyances such as black desktop background, repetitive notification messages stating that this copy of Windows is illegal or counterfeited, and a reminder to register the software at login.

Through a Windows Product Activation (WPA) vulnerability that Microsoft introduced in Windows 7, it is possible to reset the remaining rearm count back to 4. There is no limit to the number of times that the rearm count can be reset, meaning that a user could theoretically run an unlicensed copy of Windows 7 forever, without the need for proper activation, and without applying any activation hacks.

Given the importance of this WPA registry key, Microsoft has locked it (and its sub-keys) from been modified or deleted in a normal user session. The only way to run this command is within the WinRE (Windows Recovery Environment) or WinPE (Windows Preinstallation Environment).

Did not work for me. Script runs fine from a Windows PE environment, but upon rebooting into Windows it now just asks for a product key. SLMGR -REARM does not fix it either, still keeps asking for a key and says this copy is not genuine.

Keep receiving Software licensing services version 6.1.7601.17514 Error: product key not found when running slmgr /rearm from cmd run as local admin after running delwpa.bat from WIN PE. Any recommendations

first sent to hell the KB971033, second if you do not have a second partition on your hard drive you need to make a new hard drive partition, copy paste the delwpa.bat in the second hard drive partition, in the Windows PE console use ( change directory ) cd d: ( or the correct letter from the new hard drive partition ) after the cd d: it is necebat ssary to do dir in the partition after DIR will show you the delwpa.bat then it is very easy execute D:>delwpa.

[ConnectX-6 Dx] Added support for Multiport E-Switch, a mode where a single E-Switch connects all VPorts and physical ports on the NIC. This allows for scenarios such as sending traffic from a VF created on PF0 to an uplink that is natively associated with the uplink of PF1.

[ConnectX-6 Dx and above] Added support for offloading TC police action MTU attribute, allowing users to compare the pkt len to the MTU value. In addition, support was added for offloading TC police jump conform-exceed control action.

[ConnectX-6 Dx and BlueField-2] Added support for installing a special user image into the firmware, which can be burned into either of two available slots for such applications, which enables monitoring the image's activities using the fw_tracer located inside the mlx5 driver. To view the output of the tracer, the user can access trace point, but it is important to note that they can only view traces that are generated after enabling the trace point by using the following command: 'echo 1 > sys/kernel/debug/tracing/events/mlx5/mlx5_fw/enable'."
