Hey there Easy Riders!
Do you like parades? You too? Well....Surprise! Easy Riders are going
to take you on a quintessentially Portland-style parade. A Move by
Bike parade!
One of our own is moving his household by bike this Sunday! If you've
never participated in a Move by Bike, this is your chance- it's
amazing! If you have a trailer, fabulous, but if not, a set of
panniers/basket/backpack will be fine. Or just come along to help
carry stuff in and out of the houses! Cheerleaders and the curious are
welcome. I guarantee you will have SO much fun.
Meet us at Vera Katz under the Hawthorne Bridge at 10:30AM, and we'll
ride downtown to Chris' place at 10:45.
Here are the deets from Chris:
"yes, i am moving myself across town entirely by bicycle. that is,
sans-moving-truck. people do it all the time, really:

i hope you'll join me for my house-move-by-bike-mobile-party, which
will lack a theme other than eat, move, and be merry. the usual
caffeinated or fruity beverages & breakfast tacos (which are
apparently fairly foreign to portland? allow me to rectify that) will
provide us fuel to go from NW to NE, and beer, wine, and pizza shall
provide us with fuel to socialize in my new house/yardal area after
the nearly instant unloading frenzy.
if the weather is appropriate, i hope to have a slip-n-slide and
kiddie pool set up (probably not as intense as ken's!), and the
trampoline should already be there. so, you know, we'll break the yard
in right if it's sunny. and if not, alcohol still tastes good inside
=)
i ashamedly have enough crap for at least 2 people, so there will be
plenty of challenge for the daring & motivated. among the more
interesting/challenging items to be moved: a chilled keg of beer, a
refrigerator, a double bed, eleventy-one boxes of books, and a
slightly ornery cat. well, the cat might sit this one out--she doesn't
love riding on the bike, though she's done it before.
if you need a trailer, let me know--i will try to wrangle one up for
you. if you want to show up on a bike with a backpack, panniers,
tractor beam, sidecar, or other nontraditional conveyance, be my
guest! we'll find something for you =). unloaded cheerleaders on bike
are also welcome to accompany us.
to summarize:
bike move!

11:30, roll when loaded. afterparty to incorporate alcohol & pizza &
