OK - Here is the setup

I have a linux box connected to NTL broadband (DHCP), acting as a proxy
& firewall for my main windows box.

Obviously, I would like to keep my Easynet account etc, but I am unable
to get it to connect through the linux box to either the mail or news
servers - web access is OK using IE6 through the proxy. I can however,
access my mail/news directly from the linux box using Netscape - so it
is either a problem with routing or the proxy.

The firewall shouldn't be a problem as I can access these services
through Netscape
(and I have tried killing the firewall)

I've set Outlook and O. Express with same server details as for
Netscape, but with connection via LAN.

I realise such a configuration is not supported but can anybody give me
a few pointers as to what I need to check/setup.

Linux distro : SuSe 7.3
Firewall : Suse
Proxy software: Squid

TIA

John,
What services have you currently got with Easynet.

Dial-Up account ??

POP3 Mailbox ??

ADSL ??

If you have a POP3 account, please tell me what your u/name is and I'll
double check everything is OK.

Note: You should be able to pick up POP3 mail from anywhere with any
connection but when sedning mail, you will have to use the SMTP smarthost of
whichever connectivity provider you are using.

Regards,

Chris
