I run 8 websites hosted on easynet. On each, is a live booking engine for
accommodation only. My problem is this...
Between the hours of 6pm and 1am every day, some of the 8 sites will not
load up on an NTL connection (tried several peoples NTL connections). Each
time it varies, its never the same site that can't be found. So 5 sites will
be running dandy and 3 sites just can't be found, then an hour later its
different sites that can't be found and the ones that couldn't orginally be
found now can be.
Its driving me crazy, as no other connection (that I know of) has the
problem. I'm concerned as there are alot of NTL users and I could be missing
out on a lot of sales.
Obviously it sounds like an NTL problem, but is there anything that can be
done at my end that will help NTL not lose my sites? I mean what is it thats
making this happen?
I'm wondering how many other connections out there (AOL, Freeserve, BT etc.)
might be having the same problem, how much potential business am I losing
here. :(
Appreciate any helpful advice from you guys.
Thanks
Joe
I use NTL Broadband, and just recently loads of sites have been unavailable
at various times, including my own also hosted with EasyNet.
On the NTL support news groups (which NTL themselves no longer support) it
has been reported many times recently about the fact NTLs DNS servers are
not coping well (many people are not quite so polite!).
I have had quite a few problems trying to get to the EasyDial website, NTL
have two servers 194.168.4.100 and 194.168.8.100 it is not uncommon for one
server to say www.easydial.co.uk does not exist while the other server knows
where to find it. Wait a couple of hours and it seems to be OK.
A lot of NTL customers have started using publically available DNS servers.
I do not think there is a quick or easy solution, just wait until NTL fix
their servers.
