Hi Martin (or whoever),

Just returned from Germany staying with friends who have a Deutche
Teleko domestic version of ADSL installed. It provides 1 ADSL line and
three tel/fax lines into the house. They actually call the ADSL service
telefaxDSL. It also provides a router for networking all machines in the
house. It costs a flat unmetered rate of DM 50 / month (GBP16/month) and
cruised at a steady 88k/sec on long downloads. Speed and cost just my
dream. Any such service at same-ish price in the pipeline here?

In the UK? Pah!

With BT controlling DSL? Pah!

As soon as NTL get off their fat arses and give me a cable modem I'm jumping
on that broadband wagon. 25 squids a month against BT's 40 squids for
domestic service, I'm currently forking out £30+ on phone bills for internet
alone (+ line rental). Mind you I've been waiting for nearly a year for NTL
to get off their chair shaped butts and hook me up with their free dialup
service so I won't hold my breath. I personally don't like NTL's
lethargicness and think they're becoming the BT of the cable world and we
know BT are to telecoms what Microsoft is to software.
