As you may or may not know, on June 17, QRZ.com changed
the way their database can be accessed. This caused the EasyLog access to
their data base to stop functioning. There had been two ways to access the
data base. One was the free access that was supported by EasyLog 5. The
other was their paid subscription XML access which was not supported by EasyLog
5.
Today, July 4, 2011, an updated DLL was released on
EasyLog Wiki. This DLL and the supporting INI file restore access to the
now severely limited free access to the QRZ database as well as add support for
the paid XML service. You can download these files as a ZIPPED file from
EasyLog Wiki www.easylog.com/wiki. These files
are free to all who use EasyLog 5 regardless of whether your support is current
or not. You must have at least verison 5.5.0.0 for this update to
work.
When you navigate to EasyLog Wiki, scroll down the page
until you find the section that deals with QRZ.com. Click the link there
and you will be taken to the page from which you can download the ZIPPED file
that contains the two files that are needed to upgrade you EasyLog 5.
Instructions are given there for how to install the files.
Also available from EasyLog Wiki are the updated Check and
Manager databases. As always, backup your logs before you install these
new databases. It is the only way to recover should something go wrong in
their installation.
