The following is a statement that I understand expresses the thoughts and policies of Microware Software regarding the recent changes in access to the QRZ.com call sign database.

It now has been several days since the QRZ.com web site changed the way that access to their call sign database is done.  EasyLog 5 as well as other logging software are no longer able to query the database.

This change was made by the owner of the site with no advance notice.  Logging software developers were given no opportunity to adapt to this change before the change was made.  Our feeling is that this is, in part, an attempt to encourage users to subscribe to the paid mode access, or use the now limited (150 query per day) free access in hope that they will later switch to the paid access.

Microware Software's position is to continue to offer the free query mode of access as long as it is available through web browsers.  As long as the free mode of access is available through web browsers, we will support it through EasyLog.  Because of requests we have received from EasyLog users who use the paid mode of access, this too will be supported by EasyLog.

Both the free mode and the paid mode of access require a login.  You will need to get an account at QRZ.com for either the free mode or the paid mode of queries.

Microware Software and the owner of the web site are discussing the best way to change the access mode to the web site in EasyLog.  Because this will involve some analysis, development and debugging, time will be needed to once again provide access to the data base through EasyLog.  We apologize for any inconvenience to our customers.  A solution for QRZ.com access will be provided in the shortest time possible.

We wish to remind our customers that we have no business relationship with the site other than purchasing advertising on the site.  Our support for access to the site has always been provided as a free add-on to EasyLog.  All other features of EasyLog 5 are fully functional even without this feature.

Thanks for your understanding.
