Hi.
I'm using somagic-capture with mplayer to see if it's currently working, and I have good vision of camera image but with moving stripes as seen on picture

I'm using standard command
sudo somagic-capture | mplayer -vf yadif,screenshot -demuxer rawvideo -rawvideo "pal:format=uyvy:fps=25"  -

HELP PLEASE.

Is it supposed to be black and white?
Could it be that your camera is NTSC or something different than PAL?

The rolling stripes is usually an indication of synchronization errors.

It's PAL.
Exactly

I bought it in Poland, where I live and here we have PAL system. I tried to change system in mplayer command line but image flickered.
The image is stable but this black stripe is slowly going down from top to bottom.

Does --sync=1 help? If not, try --pal-4.43.

Also, I guess you have tried the camera with a regular TV/Monitor just
to be sure the stripes aren't created by the camere :)

Sync doesn't help - no change.
Pal-4.43 makes flickering, so ordinary -pal is the best.

I will check that... after I'll get back from my vacations :D I'm on holidays and during some spare time I do some somagic experiments :)

Guys,
I've discovered the problem. It was the power source.
Camera should be powered with 12V DC. My power source had too much AC components. This means that apart from DC current it had AC (sinus) artifacts from mains. That's very common for cheap power sources. Beware of them :)

I've connected 12V battery (from my RC plane!) and the Image is very stable.

Now it's time to check why I have no Image on my raspberry pi. I have raw data from somagic-capture but when I pipe it to mplayer there is no Image. Maybe because of these stripes and some sync errors?

Thanks!
Bartek
