I' m trying to get a SIIG USB frame grabber working on the Pi. I have followed the instructions on the Easycap wiki, but hit this problem:

somagic-init firmware file '/lib/firmware/somagic_firmware.bin' was not recognized

I extracted the firmware from SmiUsbGrabber3F.sys on a Windows machine where the USB stick was first used.
The file appears to be hex bin file, so I'm not sure what I got wrong in the process.

Cheers
Dave

file now should be renamed to smi2021_3f.bin and put in /lib/firmware

The renaming is only necessary for the kernel module, I don't remember
where the somagic-init program looks for the firmware...

It's been a while since I worked on it as I repurposed the Pi for another project. I'll try to resurrect the DVR project. But why would renaming the file overcome the error message? It's essentially the same file, just renamed.

Thanks everyone. Will post an update  when I retry it.
