Cousins,
I wanted to give my 2 coppers on our recent trip to the alternate dimension.
Weapons:
Handheld rifles of extreme accuracy, high rate of fire and large
ammunition supply. We saw snipers shooting at us from a building across
a road from us hitting moving, obscured targets for what (in my
estimation) was more damage than a ballista. I don't even want to
imagine what their vehicle mounted systems are like.
Skills/Powers:
Based on our information I'm assuming these are item based powers. Low
light vision. proof against gas attacks, armor, proof against bright
light flashes.
Intelligence:
Obvious remote viewing/scrying capabilities as evidenced by the soldiers
attacking the exact floor/rooms we were in even from across the street.
Communication between soldiers indicated by coordinated movement even in
their smoke/blinding light bombs.
Magical Powers:
They wiped at least a week of memories from us and probably interrogated
us while under.
Someone was able to block out ability to return to our home dimension
while we were in the building. I'm hypothesizing that it was not
technology based (or at least not the normal tech for that dimension)
but that it was done by the chaos beast that Cliff saw. If (Hah. When)
we face them I'm assuming we'll see vastly powerful individuals, whether
magic/technology/chaos or some fusion of them.
Our powers in that place also seemed to be increased. Perhaps this is
why the chaos beasts are there or perhaps it is some odd side effect of
magic (do less magic users in a place mean more power?)
Comments:
Honestly I don't see how we got away unless it was a setup. With the
remote sensing they should have know the instant we escaped and with the
speed of their vehicles we should have had many more opponents facing
us. Also, waking up in a room with no guards and some of our equipment
conveniently lying on a table next to us? I doubt it. We certainly
wouldn't lock highly dangerous opponents in an unguarded room along with
their weapons.
The first thing that comes to my mind is simple. They have the ability
to trace us and allowed/forced us to jump back home. They provided just
enough resistance to let us think we were escaping but not enough to
actually stop us. We have no idea what we missed during out WEEK memory
loss. We have to assume that we spilled everything we know about magic,
our home plane defenses, etc. We also have to assume that they have us
tracked with magic/tech/chaos. There is an extremely good possibility
that we're going to be invaded by technology/chaos armies in the near
future.
