Free movies for us!

About a year ago, Rafi Katz made getting this done one of his many pet
projects, as he thought it was a really cool idea (it is!) and a good
way to get some life back on the beach side of town (heck, yes!).
Now, we've got clearance!
This summer we will have movies about every other week (four in total)
and the City will alternate between the movie events and the music on
the beach events. The first three movies will be at the Four Fields
baseball complex in Pompano Community Park. The first movie is slated
for July 10, and it will be Marley and Me, The second movie will be
on July 24 and it will be Night at the Museum II. The third movie,
The Sandlot, will be on August 7. The last movie, Avatar, will be at
the Amphitheater on September 3.
In total, there will be five music weekends and four movie weekends,
so make your plans now to be there! Those of you who are getting this
and live in Pompano Beach need to make it our business to show up and
tell all our friends to show up (Pompanonians or not). We need to get
some life back on the beach side and this is a great way to do it.
While the movies might play better during the winter/fall times
because it gets darker earlier, the idea is to get this off the ground
and get it going. No more waiting and planning! These movies are all
kid and family friendly.
Kudos to the Pompano Beach Parks and Recreation Department, and
especially Scott Moore, for making this happen. He really made it his
project and took on the planning of this whole thing. In case you're
wondering, the City of Weston also does these, and does not even
advertise them any more because they are a standard monthly event, and
they get huge crowds. So, thanks to Rafi and the City, we should be
seeing some more life on the beach side this coming summer!
