Hi Everyone

Leila & I had a productive meeting this evening with Sebastian from
the Bethnal Green Greenpeace Group about how we can work together and
with other local groups. The points from the meeting are:

We propose to host a discussion and action evening in the 3rd week of
September and invite other local groups to come along. Sebastian
suggested if the evening was a success then every 2-3 months a local
group would hold a similar event. We could also look to share stalls
at events if only 1-2 people can attend form each group and promote
our discussion events.

We need to decide on a date so I can start contacting other groups -
Sebastian seems to know people in lots of local groups and was keen
for us to all meet one another!

Proposed dates are: Tue 14th or Thurs 16th September - please can
people let know what works for them asap.

Leila - to liaise with Lucy to organise a speaker for the event & the
topic (Robin HOod tax or aid?)

If anyone wants to go to the Bethnal Green Greenpeace meeting they
meet on the first Thursday of the month (Leila did he say the Albion
pub??)

Claire - what's the latest with the business cards?!

Adizah is setting up the blog - please let us know the details,
passwords etc

Artopia - the opening day/ eve for this is Tue 3rd August - please
confirm if you can come along at any time as it would be good to have
members of the group there throughout the day!

As no-one can make our next meeting on Mon 2nd Aug it is cancelled! I
am at the Big Chill the week after then at a poetry night on the 16th,
so either go ahead without me or we have the next meeting on 23rd
August. If we need to meet before this then Thursdays are best for
me!

Speak soon

Tess

Hello!

Update - Sophie from Oxfam is able to come and do a discussion on the Robin Hood Tax.

I am going to email Siobhan to check if this is ok and also to get our next meeting - Monday 23 August in their mail out.

Exciting stuff! Leila

Hi

Leila - I saw Lucy's email that Sophie can come to the evening but we
need to confirm the date - Tue 14th Sept or Thurs 16th either is good
for me. Please can you let me know which one you have told Sophie and
Siobhan so I can let Sebastian know from Greenpeace before his meeting
on thusday?

Thanks

Hello

Ok the details of our Robin Hood Tax Discussion evening are: Thursday
16th September at 7pm in the Gallery Cafe, Old Ford Road Bethnal
Green. Leila has organised a speaker from Oxfam who is the sole
campainger for the tax who will explain it in detail which can lead to
a discussion and actions each person or group can then take to
pressure the government. We need to discuss how to advertise it ie on
the blog, facebook & try to contact other local groups.

Sebastian from the Bethnal Green Greenpeace groupwill tell his group
members at their next meeting and pass it onto to other local groups.
If anyone wishes to attend the next Greenpeace meeting it is on
05/08/10 at the Approach Tavern on Approach Road, at 8p. If people do
want to come please let Sebastian know - his number is 07704006809.

Our next meeting is on Monday 23rd August at 7pm at the Gallery Cafe,

See you soon

Tess
