Hi Everyone

Here are the meeting notes from yesterday:

Alex gave out the flyers to Leila; Claire & myself - the areas we
agreed to cover are;
Leila - Brick Lane, Spitalfields & Bethnal Green Road
Alex- Barbican, Old St are & Shoreditch High St
Claire - Stoke Newington & Dalston
Tessa - Clapton, Hackney Mare St, London Fields & Hackney Wick

Before the Tea Party we need to buy the following:
Wooden Pegs & string for the washing line - Tess
Ribbon, blank postcards, raffle tickets - Claire
Balloons - Leila
Neon postcards - everyone!
Sign Up sheet - Alex
Leila to bring her ipod for music in case we need it
Tessa to bring her Oxfam flags

We will ask people to give their email addresses to send them an
update; ie create a mailing list. Then if they want to get involved
they can join the google group

Lucy - are you able to give us some badges as well for the event? I
will be picking everything up next Thursday evening but if you are
able to give Leila anything in the day at the event she is attending
that would also be great

Everyone to swat up on current Oxfam campaigns - mainly Robin Hood tax
as we want people to sign the action cards

TEA PARTY SCHEDULE

We decided on a rough schedule for the event
Group arrive 4pm - decorate TWSY
Start 5pm; Swap Shop deadline for giving items 6.30pm; Swapping from
6.45pm

Swap Shop - give people raffle tickets for however many items they
bring then pull numbers out of a hat at 6.45pm for people to come up
and choose a new item
Speak to people about the group and encourage them to write ideas for
events on the neon cards (to hang on the washing line), take flyers,
sign the action card & sign up to the mailing list throughout the
event

We should decide on the next meeting date so we can tell people when
it is if they do want to join the group

Summer Festivals - Claire and Tessa to look into park events and free
festivals in East London
Leila to find out if we can have a stall at the Gallery Cafe event on
12th June & possible hold our meetings there in future
Adizah - will you be able to create blog for the group?

See you on Sunday!

Thanks for this. I just realised I'm working next Sunday which is a bit annoying. Got my dates mixed up, so I can't make it now.

I've got the posters (got them in the mail) if you want to collect them from me. Or I'll just put them around Old Street to Dalston.

Aloha,

Regarding the blog being set up I will look into it but we would need to have a more solid purpose for actually having it ect. So let me know what your ideas are.

Looks like it is all coming together well so far, yet I am thinking about the number of people that may turn up as the FBK event is not looking very strong :( and all this effort will not be worth if we can't attract more people. I have put out the poster on the SOAS jobs page, the Getting into International Development Page, The OXFAM GB page and the TWSY page. So I thought a good plan of action may be to invited some of your friends on FBK to the Tea Party next week? And maybe see if TWSY could also invite their friends on FBK as they have many. Also I think it is a great marketing idea to put out profile photos as the flyer and tag some of our friends who we think are likely to come, as well as a link at the bottom with the event on it ASAP. What is the number of people that can actually fit in the shop?
Hope your enjoying bank holiday weekend.

See you soon.

Adizah :)

Hi,

Spoke to the Gallery Cafe, sounds like they would be happy for us to hold meetings there I just need to contact their events organiser to check about that and 12 June...

I can't make the event on 12 so I'm happy to ask but just to check - can someone definitely go?

Leila

Hi

Sorry, not been in much ot check me emails

Alex - that's a shame you can't make it - is there no chance at all?!
If you haven't already please put the posters up around Brick Lane,
Old st area

Adizah - thanks for looking into the blog, we wnated to put up forth
coming events and ideas on there, but it can be discussed more on
Sunday, thanks also for promoting the event more. It doesn't matter if
we don't have loads of people, really we want people that are keen to
join the group and help us to organise events. I'd rather have 5
reliable, passionate people turn up than all of my friends who care
just coming to support me. We can't make people come and I also think
your profile picture on facebook is your personal choice. Claire has
been to the cafe and said it could hold upto about 30 people
(including outside seating); it would be good if everyone could try to
get to Tina We Salute You this week if you haven't already been.

Leila - thanks for asking the gallery cafe and let's definitely have
our next meeting there. I may have to work on the 12th so don't want
to say yes, so if there is someone who can definitely go then if I
don't have to work I can come and help them promote the group.

Hope everyone has managed to flyer like mad, despite the crazy
weather!

Tess

Yeah it's really bad. I'm going to ask tomorrow at work if somebody can take the Sunday, as we have new people starting this week.

Hi all,

Right, I have just spoken to Siobhan at Gallery Cafe. They would love us to have meetings there, would happily invite us along to events, etc. And she would advertise the group on the cafe newsletter and the leaflets they produce.

She is sending out the newsletter in a few hours so can we decide on the next meeting day? I can then ask her to put it in the next newsletter. Mondays are a good day as she says the cafe is quite quiet. How do people feel about 14 June? I think 7 June is too soon after the event.

Please get back to me ASAP. If I don't hear anything, I might ask for 14 June anyway...so let me know if this doesn't work for you.

Thanks!

Leila

Good news...

The next meeting will take place on Monday 14 June 7-8pm at Gallery Cafe. I guess if we collect people's emails at the event on Sunday, we can email them to let them know this, but I wonder if we should have some kind of poster/something with the meeting date on it...

Adizah - could you add the next meeting date to your blog post? I'll post it on the Facebook Group.

Thanks,

Leila

Hi all,

Well done Leila. The 14th of june works great for me :), I will add it to the blog post. I am going to do another one today as well, just to keep the pace up.  I will finally be down in London properly then. I have found out this week that I have been put down for work at my union bar on saturday till 2am, so getting down to London from Norwich on Sunday is not looking likely :( as its quite expensive as well. I'm so sorry about all this :(.

About the blog I can set it up on wordpress and give the log in details open for everyone. Would I need Oxfam branding ect on it? Is there someone we would have to run this by? I understand that it is my personal choice and we are all free to promote the event as we wish to :).

Leila can you bring some flyers tomorrow and I will do some on Thursday afternoon/evening.

Thanks and good luck for Sunday :)

We used Oxfam branding on the leaflets so think it's fine. I'll bring you some leaflets tomorrow for sure.

Exciting stuff! :)
