Sounds like something we could get involved in...

I am going to get in touch with Gallery Cafe and say we will go for 1st and 3rd Monday of the month. If this is a problem going forward I can change it but I need to let her know or we won't get in the newsletter. Any problems let me know ASAP.

Artopia- creating a vision of a climate chaos free future

Posted: 25 Jun 2010 03:53 AM PDT

It is said that one of Argentina’s players is a relatively unknown, undeserving footballer, showcasing in this World Cup solely because Marradona recognised his face in a dream he had about the Final. When I head this I thought; clearly, this man is crackers! And then I remembered that I myself am currently working on an Oxfam project because I dreamt it up when I was drifting off to sleep a few months ago.
I envisioned a public space, filled with a plasticine utopia, a world that had been created by the community- revealing their hopes for a climate chaos free future. Fortunately, the next day, my boss thought it was a nice thought and gave Oxfam Artopia the go ahead.
Oxfam Artopia will be in three towns across the South East in the summer, in London, Oxfordshire and Hampshire, delivering climate change art workshops and asking community groups, young people and members of the public to contribute to a collaborative piece of art. This piece, made with paint, canvas, modelling clay, sculpture, fabric and found objects, will be a vision of the world we want to see, filled with bustling rainforests, deep oceans and climate justice!
If you want to get involved in an Artopia, either as an interested individual, an artist or the leader of a community group please do get in touch with Lucy AitkenRead on laitk...@oxfamorg.uk or 0207 802 9973.
Oxfam Artopia in Witney, Oxfordshire
Thursday 22nd July at the Witney Corn Exchange
Oxfam Artopia in Eastleigh, Hampshire
Thursday 29th July at The Point
Oxfam Artopia in Bethnal Green, London

Get in touch, not just so I can create my funny old plasticine dream but so we can create a beautiful vision of a climate chaos free future!
