Easter on the Quad Program

Hey guys,

Here's a rough draft of the program. Take a look at it, and suggest some changes if you have any. Also, I'm not quite sure what to put on the back page. I just listed everybody in this Google Group by name, along with the band and the sound people and the Japan people. Then I listed Cru and CBS for their book donations, and I listed Measureless and Chosen Generation. Should we change any of that?

I like the layout =) the only suggestions I have are:

- capitalize Stan's first name & Elaine's last name in the list of names

- italicize "Oh Happy Day" and "Amazing Grace"

- instead of "Lyrics" on each page, would it be more aesthetically appealing to write the names of the songs, and then just center the lyrics? Or would it be too much work?

And are we including Fire & Fragrance as a part of the program, or are they not officially a part of the event...?

1. KCCE is not canceling, just shifting it earlier and shortening.

2. prob not necessary to include all those names, or any names for that matter. i think it'd be good to list all the partnering organizations/fellowship, including the local churches that most of the people there go to.

3. what do you guys think about having some scripture reading in the program, passages/excerpts of Isaiah 53, Genesis 3, other old testament references to the gospel, beatitudes, other NT passages. Or passages that J.W. may want to refer to in his message.

4. where should we include follow-up questions/information, fellowship information?

5. is there any way to shorten the lyrics? right now it looks like a 2-sheet tri-fold.
 If it's at all possible I think we should try to keep it to a one-sheet tri-fold.

6. we still need to decide if Esther will go first or Prof. Fick will go first.

7. Should we have 2 testimonies back to back? what do you think of:

This of course leaves nothing between Zia and J.W. I'm not sure what would work better. Perhaps we can insert an scripture reading between two of them?

Also, I think J.W.'s name should have periods.

In the place where it says Campus Crusade for Christ.  I like that, but in light of our web page and our new facebook fan site, I wondered if it might be better to list us as  Cornell Cru

It doesn't totally matter.  But I thought it could be better for enabling people to look us up who are interested.

I deleted the individual names. I shortened Campus Crusade for Christ to Cornell Cru. I added Christian Union for their funding. I added Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship because we're using their speakers. I italicized the songs.

I'm not sure if lyrics can be shortened. I can make them a smaller font, but do we want that?

I think it would be best if the contact info was a separate sheet of paper. If you want to keep the same font, I used Trajan Pro.

I vote for Esther Kim going first. Her story shows human depravity in a personal way.

The reason why I put them back to back is because I thought it was best if we started with a song, and I thought it was best if we went into the message with a song. But that can change.

I'm still deciding exactly which passage I'll shoot from.  

But Isaiah 53 is a real possibility and thematically it's perfect in many ways.  So even if I don't spend a ton of time in that one, it could be worth having in the program

As well of course, 1 Corinthians 15:1-8.  Even verses 3-8 would be fine.  that's actually believed to be an early creedal statement, so it could serve will in the program as well.

Yeah, i agree, it's probably better to give individual pages to each song so that it doesn't get too cluttered, but I do think we should enlarge the lyrics.

what do you think about inserting a scripture reading in between Esther and Gary, something that might be relevant to both testimonies or a passage that J.W. may like to refer to later or Isaiah 53? It also help the keep the symmetry between the testimonies.

J.W. do you have any suggestions?

In general the fonts could all be bigger

Instead of "Thanks" maybe be better to day "in partnership with" and would it be ok to include all the fellowships since people from all the various groups have helped out and have helped to promote this and it would reflect the fact that this is a community-wide effort.

I like Isaiah 53 because Cornell has a decent Jewish population, and that would be a passage they might recognize. Just my two cents.

Jackie Liu helped me out with a few tweaks. We changed the font of the lyrics so that they weren't all caps, and I think it's easier to read, so that we don't have to change the font size. I also added Isaiah 53:4-6 in the ESV. I'm not sure what verse you want to put there, and in what version, but that can be easily changed.

I attached two versions. One has "Thanks" and "Schedule." I like it because of its simplicity. The other has "In Partnership with" and "Program of Events."

1. Open up Easter on the Quad Program_edited (not edited2), and change "Schedule" to "Program."

2. The lyrics to "Oh Happy Day" are wrong. Instead of "To wash, fight and pray," it's "To watch, fight and pray."

3. Add Korean Church at Cornell to the list of sponsors, fitting it in alphabetical order.

4. Email your updated version to the rest of us.

The size was meant to be an 8 1/2 by eleven folded into a booklet. Are you sure they know that?

Also, should the thanks be the last page?

I moved the thanks page to the back and converted it to pdf. If they are able to do booklet printing it seems like the size should be ok.

I'll try emailing them. Someone stop me if I'm making a mistake!
