Hi Larry,
I am a chaplain on campus and saw the notes on the COAH listserve about the Easter service. I had responded to a different student, I think, who might also be part of the planning committee.
I just wanted him to know, and perhaps the planning committee as a whole, that there are several other services on campus going on at the same time. The Protestant Cooperative Ministry service will be in Sage at 11 AM, the Catholic service in Bailey at 10:30, and the Korean Church has two services on campus. (Heewon Chun, the pastor, didn’t seem to know of your effort.)
Anyway, our experience last year was that there was some confusion – people looking for the Catholic service who showed up at Sage, etc., so I’m just hoping we can help people get where they are trying to get, and not create more confusion. I also expressed a willingness to keep the chapel doors closed in case the organ carries up to the Arts Quad, and I’d be really grateful if you were mindful of where speakers are placed, and their volume. And as long as your publicity doesn’t claim to be “the only Christian Easter service” on campus, we should be fine.
Thanks so much,
Taryn Mattice
