Hey Keren and others,

Sorry about the delay, I unfortunately have had less than adequate time to think about Love for Japan.  Thanks to all that are willing to help with this.

Overall vision:
-So, overall we hope that Love for Japan can be a way to encourage the students to continue to bring to God in prayer the current needs and devastation of the country as well as the great spiritual depravity that exists specifically in Japan today.

-Practically this will be presented very simply (similar to the Pakistan prayer station) with a table for folding origami paper cranes and a prayer guide for Japan (still to be developed).  Also, Stan has an easel that we can use to set the poster.  The idea for the poster is to include some facts/stats about the destruction in Japan (death counts, etc.), some pictures, and such.

Other collaborators:
-Along with myself, Stan Matusz, Jamie Chong, and Ruth Boansi have being talking about this and working to plan something.  COAH is also cool with this as well.

So, moving forward:
-I am currently in contact with the president of JUSA and also Keeton House to see if they have left over origami.  We won't necessarily know until next week, because they still want to have some available for people to make cranes.  So, this might be something that we need to get at A.C. Moore or Michael's. (I can also chip in to help pay for this, unless anyone else has some connections?)

-So, Keren, I did find an organization (Students Rebuild) that was giving $2 for each crane, but unfortunately the deadline was today.  But I do know people with SEND International currently working in Japan who we could contact about maybe sending the cranes to them to distribute to the Japanese.  What do you guys think?

-We need to figure out if we do have a table during the Easter Prayer tent vigil.

-Get a poster board for the poster.  Find and type out facts/stats etc.

-Create a prayer guide to put on the table.

-Other than these things, I don't want this to be a huge thing, and especially not take up too much of people's time or take away from the reason why are doing this.  It is about giving God the Glory even in this tradegy and praying that He will use this powerfully in the lives of the Japanese, empowering missionaries and working in the hearts of the people.  So, please prayer for the hearts of Cornell students/people in general towards Japan (and many other countries around the world too), in additon to praying for Japan.

-As for collecting donations, here is my thought.  I think it might be nice not to have to necessarily deal with collecting monetary donations.  I think this could be a cool way to focus on prayer, although yes, funds are needed as well.  Instead we could provide a list of legit Christian organization that are doing good stuff there (i.e. Samaritan's Purse, Churches Helping Churches, SEND) and like the websites for those or something.  Let me know your thoughts.

Sorry for the long email!  Thanks so much for all of your help, I will try to be as involved as I can, but unfortunately I do have a busy week coming up and two prelims.  If someone can get a poster board that would be awesome!  Let me know if you have any questions, comments, concerns.  Thanks again!

in Christ,
Michael
