GASP GASP GASP you guys are back :D

So let's get a quick state of the weyr update out so we're all sure where we stand!  We've got FOUR big things to cover, and please MAKE SURE all your Eastern buddies read!

WEB SITE TAKEDOWN AND MIGRATION

TL;DR - Our old webhost expires in JUST under two weeks on July 26th.  We're not going to continue to maintain the Freewebs site (http://www.webs.com/eweyr/) because it's REALLY hard to guys.  So after the 26th, we'll be relying purely on our new site, http://easternweyr.net/ for everything.  Now here's the problem - Rachel is currently moving to live with her fiancee, and there are not enough hours in the day to copy EVERY RIDER.  I am going to be focusing on things like weyrling lessons, schedules, about the weyr, etc.

What I need from EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU.  Is ONE email PER PERSON.  Please check if your characters are on the new site, and if not, COPY AND EMAIL THE PLAYER'S PAGE CONTENTS AND PICTURES to easte...@gmail.com so it can be added to the new site.  You need to do this BY the 26th, because afterwards, we absolutely cannot recreate them.  Unfortunately the Freewebs site is impossible to backup and archive, and I have tried for over three months to come up with a solution and short of manually saving every page myself, it's not gonna happen.  This is why I need you all to help!

This will also help cut out the inactive players/characters/etc.  So please, please, email those saved character sheets and pics in!  This will also help get our new site up and rolling, and if you see any problems with the site email either rid...@gmail.com or easte...@gmail.com so it can be fixed.  

ACTIVE PLOTS

When we left on our group hiatus, we were just about to wrap up the hunt for Mirene's attacker and the killer of both her flit and her dragon.  The searches had been started and it was only a matter of time until the fiendish person or persons were caught!  If y'all want I can repost the relevant threads, so if you're not sure please feel free to let me know.  Once that major plotarch is done there are some ideas Rachel and I have that we think y'all will enjoy, so we look forward to posting with you!

It's exciting to see everyone back so far!

RECRUITMENT

If there's one thing that helps posting a lot, it's new players.  Right now we haven't had any new players in... over a year, possibly approaching two years.  It'd be nice to see some new faces here, and to give us all more energy to post!  But not entirely sure where to advertise, and with a distinct lack of time on Rachel and I's parts due to life and overseeing things in general, we are asking for your help once more.  Please, by all means, talk to your friends, post up an advertising snippet on other sites you know for roleplay, and in general help spread the word about Eastern.  Let's show all those other weyrs and players just how awesome of a community we are and continue to grow!

Lastly, the admin team and I want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all of you.  Eastern is powered by you guys, and you make us so happy and eager to help keep going when you're here.  When we saw you guys coming back there were actual squees.  So let's keep this running, let's keep being awesome, and let's get those dragons in the air, riders!

If you guys need modly type help on a small-ish scale, I am more than happy to help. I can't promise a lot of involvement/ability to take on a ton of responsibility come September (I'll be heading into my last full semester as an undergrad), but I'd love to help out in any capacity you guys need. Think of me as an odd-jobs type pair of hands. I've done some coding and I've written clutches before etc. etc. so whatever you need. ^^

And if anyone needs an NPC dragon for a Candidate to Impress off camera, I (and probably plenty of others, we could probably even start a committee for it) would be happy to write up a dragonet or hatching post for you if you don't want to Impress out your own Candidates.

Aaron - it does.  I'd have wget it over a year ago if I could, but the whole thing is loaded via javascript, which makes wget a moot point.

Mike - the site is partially moved, and what's been moved so far is at http://easternweyr.net/ for now.  But the old site still has a lot that needs moving.

Aaron and I were talking geek - there's a program, called wget, that lets you download webpages or parts of webpages.  If I COULD have, I'd save all of the old site and just host it on my server, but unfortunately they do something that prevents me from making ANY copies any way other than opening each page and saving it the old fashioned way.  That's what we were referencing.

OMFG you guys labeled me "The Bossette" on the site, i love it. ^___^

I may or may not have used that as my nickname in Animal Crossing (I did). Also, Rida? I can give you the exact color of the dragon pic backgrounds - they're not white so that they could blend in with the old site. We could tint the background of the new site in order to still use the old pics, maybe?

And let me know about dragons and flits still needing pics! Anyone can feel free to email me directly.

ALL RIGHT, UPDATE ON UPDATE! To give you an idea how much I love you guys I'm still at work (It's Sunday at 5pm and I'm a M-F 8-4 guy) but I'm taking a break to let you know where we sit.

The site seems to be sorta-up. The old one. Haven't deep-dug yet, but life's crazy. HOWEVER all things have been saved! And here's the players with stuff saved, and MANY MANY THANKS to those of you who helped out here!
