(05.06.2761) Suds Me Up, I Could Be A Dolphin ((Arly/Eilowynth, Kalenia/Ilyenath))

Kalenia generally liked bath time for Ilyenath. Her green loved the water and they always had fun, splashing each other. Of course, since she'd reached full size, Ilyenath often swmaped her rider if she wasn't careful. Now, though, it seemed there would be some difficulty. "This is going to drive me nuts if this keeps up," Kale groused, glaring at the bag of soapsand and the brushes and oil she usually used to clean her dragon all by herself. A big pregnancy belly was making that task daunting and difficult. ((I think you need help,)) Ilyenath told her lifemate innocently. Kale glared while her elegant dragon sunk deeper into the water. "I'm perfectly capable!"

Ilyenath snorted and ejected herself out of the water to splash land back in the shallows. ((I know you are, but for the sake of speed and your safety, might we ask someone for help in washing and oiling me today?)) Kalenia was tempted to pout but stopped herself; it was a facial expression she'd been using a lot of late and she didn't want to get into bad habits. "Fine." The reply wasn't quite sullen, but should the Searchrider not find anyone she was willing to converse with for the entirety of washing her dragon, things might get ugly. Luckily for her and any people she wasn't feeling magnanimously towards, a good friend of hers was nearby.

"Arly!" Kalenia cried happily, her mood suddenly brightening by shades. "I haven't talked to you in ages! Would you mind helping me wash and oil Ily today? My belly seems as though it wants to get in the way of a lot of tasks these days." She pat her belly with one hand, amused at her own joke about how big she was getting. Sometimes it was only okay for the pregnant lady herself to make fun of her size. Compliments were always welcome, though.

As usual, someone called her name and Arly nearly faceplanted, her toe catching in a small rise of sand. Well, the part where someone called her was unusual. The faceplanting was not. Hovering overhead, Shiny scolded her for clumsiness before powering on and recognizing Kale and Ilyenath. ~Hi hi,~ Shiny greeted Ilyenath, in an oddly good mood. She was out on a walk with her person, without that guy or Eilowynth to be distracting or Glitter to be obnoxious. The sun was warm on her hide and she had Arly's full attention for once. What WASN'T there to be happy about?

"Hi," Arly echoed her fire lizard. "How are you?" It seemed like the polite thing to say, although the answer was clearly 'overwhelmingly pregnant.' Terrifying. "Um, yeah, it would seem." Another reason to never get pregnant and stay that way. "Sure, we'll help." She glanced pointedly up at Shiny. "We're just on a walk, but that's what friends are for, right? You'd help me with Eilo. What would you like me to do?"

Shiny relented. She hovered over Ilyenath's head. ~Can help,~ she announced magnanimously. ~Tell how.~

Kalenia smiled at her friend. She hadn't had a good girl session in ages! It felt like she didn't have time for that anymore, with the baby taking up so much space and time. "I'm pretty good, feeling good. Some days are better than others, but mostly I'm good." Ilyenath nodded in Arly's direction; she liked the younger greenrider very much, and liked her green quite a lot as well. "Of course I'd help you, any time." Kale looked about and bent down with an 'oof' to pick up one of the brushes and some sweetsand. "Mind helping me suds her up first?"

Ilyenath looked to the green firelizard, pleased with the way this day was turning out well. ((Hello, little one,)) she replied to her little cousin. ((Perhaps you can help wash me in places that are not easy for Kalenia or Arly to reach?))

Arly did not understand how anyone so awkwardly pregnant could be "good," but whatever, Kale was impossible to understand sometimes. Like how she was so... outgoing and sunny all the time. But Arly didn't hold that against her. "Sure. I'll suds her up." Arly looked up at the familiar green. "What do you like, Ily? Eilo has pattens and scratches she prefers. Any requests?" Scrubbing Ilynath like she would a floor just seemed... wrong. Ilynath was a friend.

Nothing was easy for Arly to reach. Shiny just nodded sagely and fluttered her wings in acknowledgment, waiting for her cue. ~Knock things down,~ she told Ilynath. ~So she catch. Can help.~

Because it was Kale, and she was a friend, and Arly was *trying* to be less of a shrimp, she ventured into the scary land of small talk. "So... can you feel it kick and stuff yet?"

Beautiful, Arly, she congratulated herself. This is why we don't have many friends.

[Arielle]

Arly wasn't entirely wrong, being so pregnant was rough, but wash time was one of the easier times for Kalenia because the water of the lake helped take some of the strain off her back and legs. ((I would not mind testing out what my sister likes,)) Ilyenath told Arly interestedly. ((Kale usually does long strokes, but a change can be enjoyable.)) The green turned her head back towards Shiny. ((Yes, I'm sure you'll do wonderfully helping.))

As Kale dug into sudsing up Ilyenath's hip, where the water was a bit deeper and she could float a little. Well, her belly could float, which was the important part. "Sometimes, it kicks and moves," she replied, rubbing her sponge and soapsand in long, luxurious strokes. "It's kind of cool, when it happens." She huffed her fringe out of her eyes with a strong breath and looked over to her friend, her arms still moving along her green's hide. "What about you? I feel like we haven't had a good chance to chat in months."

[Rachel]

"Well, alright." Arly shyly took to washing Ilyenath with the same massaging circles that she used on Eilowynth. It almost felt wrong, like cheating on Eilo, but Eilo's mind was at peace, dozing in the sun with Bisouth. And Ilyenath was a good friend, a classmate. "Let me know how you like it." Overhead, Shiny took to smearing soapsand over Ilyenath's head with vigor.

"I can't imagine," Arly told Kale honestly. "I bet it's cool." It also sounded kind of creepy. How was Kale *still* so much more... adult? She felt her cheeks flush as Kale asked her about her life, and she ducked her head, concentrating on Ilyenath's suds. The sun warmed her cheeks and shoulders, but that wasn't enough to account for the sudden pink. "Um... I've been good!" Her voice rose in a shy squeak. "Um. You know E'lix? And Bisouth? Eilo's, um, she's with him now. Bisouth, I mean." Not E'lix. They weren't nearly *that* close for E'lix to be spending alone time with her dragon.


OOC: Is mild posing of Bisouth okay? Can change if not!

Ilyenath hummed a little. ((I can see why my sister likes that pattern. You have a very gentle touch, Arly. Don't be afraid to dig in!)) The green was occasionally feeling echoes of her rider's aches and pains, but a good drill always got her muscles burning to begin with. The Queens' Wing was certainly a change from the more hairpin turns often required of an agile flyer like herself amongst the regular wings. ((Very good, little cousin,)) Ilyenath told Shiny pleasantly, happy to have another firelizard around. She was fond of the little ones, especially her Kale's Blaze, though he was off somewhere at the moment. Possibly hunting fish. She thought he had expressed a desire fore some earlier that morning.

Kalenia glanced at her friend while she worked on her dragon's hide, digging into her green's muscles with big, long strokes of her Smithcrafter's arms. Arly was blushing! Why? The question was shortly answered as the younger rider squeaked out a reply, making the redhead smile. "Good is good. Yeah, I know E'lix vaguely. I think we were in the same wing for a short time before things got reorganized." She continued on with her her washing, adding a handful more soapsand to a bit of mud stuck on Ilyenath's hip.

"So Eilo likes Bisouth then?" She had never really been sure of the other green's tastes in males, while her own Ilyenath most often favored bronzes, as shown by her love for both her brother Roalth and their weyrmate Sohruth. "And what about you, hmm? Do you like E'lix?" There had been the fact that he'd given Arly one of his own firelizard's eggs as a present that Kalenia vaguely remembered in passing, but she wasn't sure whether the affection was reciprocated. The brownrider was a nice enough lad from what she'd seen of him, quiet, kind, friendly. Not terribly ambitious, but that sort of man was the kind liable to scare Arly away, she thought. She thought she might ask Ilyenath to ask Eilowynth how things were going with the brown pair. If someone needed a talking to, Kalenia was more than willing to go to bat for her friend.

OOC: Posing is fine! Very in character for our dragons. xD

"Okay." Arly muttered, and obligingly dug in. It really wasn't a whole lot harder, still afraid of annoying her friend's dragon, but she tried, and got a lot of soap and dirt under her fingernails as reward for her efforts. Her face still felt like it was on fire, and it was very distracting.

~Am very good,~ Shiny said immodestly, and vigorously went after the back of Ilyenath's skull with all the tenacity that Arly lacked.

"Um," Arly said brilliantly, daring to glance over her shoulder at Kale. "Yes? I mean, yes, she likes him. And he likes her. And there's, um, a whole lot of liking. Yeah. Liking. Um, I really don't know what I'm doing, so, um, I'm sorry, I don't know what to say?" The last part of her question ended on a squeak, and she blushed even harder.

[Arielle]

((Mmmmmm, that's good!)) Ilyenath told Arly. ((Thank you!)) Had the green been a human she would have giggled at Shiny's efforts, pleased with her small kin's enthusiasm. ((Yes, you're very, very good, Shiny, thank you too.)) She splashed Kalenia with water using her tail, causing the redhead to chuckle and dig in as well to her swathe of green hide, dirt and soap and sand getting into her hands and nails too. Cleaning was such dirty work.

If Kale didn't know Arly she'd smack her 'bout the head and tell her she was being ridiculous, but for the younger greenrider to even admit she liked a man was something. Thus, the pregnant lady was sympathetic. "Well, what *have* you two been doing that makes everything so confusing?" She cast a sly look in Arly's direction. "What do you *want* to do?"

[Rachel]

Ilyenath's gratitude went a long way toward easing Arly's generic discomfort at doing anything not safely within her tiny comfort zone. She patted Ilyenath's neck and continued on just as she had been. Eilowynth was happily asleep at that point, so some of the baseless apprehension that she was cheating on Eilo faded.

Shiny continued with the same vigor, attacking the grime on Ilyenath much like she would an actual enemy threatening someone's happiness.

Kale's insinuations made Arly go bright second-degree-sunburn red. It was so hot it almost hurt. "Gah!" She could only yelp helplessly for a moment, frantically reminding herself, with artificial fervor, that she was an *adult* and a *dragonrider* and could do *adult things.* And that Kale was a *friend* and this was not about to end badly. "I... um... well, he gave me Glitter?" She squeaked out. Shiny snarled a bit at the reminder. "And, um... stuff. Stuff happened. Happens. Happened!" She pointed at Ilyenath, as a green dragon in general, and looked mournfully at Kale. "That stuff! You know that stuff! And, um, um, as f-for what I w-want to do... I have no sharding idea."

[Arielle]

Ilyenath let out a pleasured hum at the continued ministrations of her companions, shutting her eyes to relish the feelings. She always did love a good bath. The green particularly enjoyed her tiny cousin's actions, as Shiny was so enthusiastic it felt good and also amused the dragon with the flitter's theatrics.

Kalenia giggled at the shade of red her friend turned and as her first instinct was to put her hand to her mouth, so she almost inhaled bubbles. "A firelizard egg, that's the kind of gift I'd like to be wooed by." Yes, she was purposely needling her friend because Arly needed to get used to the idea of romance, especially romance with a guy she liked and who gave her a gift as wonderful as Glitter. "And his dragon won Eilo's Flight. He rides a brown right?" Kale had a vague familiarity with the rider in question, as they'd been in the same wing for a short period of time before there was some reshuffling to address Thread more effectively. "Well, it seems like you really like him, and that he really likes you. So the stuff you want to do can basically be figured out over time, I'd say." She and G'ste had figured out that *stuff* over time, not all at the beginning. Like having a baby, something they hadn't planned on happening for a while yet. Still, neither of them would change it for the world, not now.

[Rachel]

They were talking about human mating things again. Shiny scoffed and perched on Ilyenath's head for a bit, resting her tiny paws and preening, looking out and briefly pretending that she was finally a queen. It was kind of fun. But there was work to do, and she had to prove herself to be the BESTEST so maybe, MAYBE Arly would quit getting more imposters and pretenders, so she dove back for more soapsand and then, chittering intensely, assaulted Ilyenath's neck.

Arly, glad for the distraction, looked up at Shiny's amber eyes and giggled. As long as Ily enjoyed it. And then she had to deal with Kale again and she went beet red from her hairline to her neckline. "I liked it!" She protested to Kale in almost a whine. It made her even more embarrassed, which cued the stammering. Really, she didn't know why Kale put up with her some days. "A-and she m-makes Shiny b-beHAVE!" She glared up at Shiny for a second, who ignored her.

"Y-yeah. He w-won, and brown, and and and, um," she looked down at Ilyenath's hide, utterly unable to make eye contact. "And then there was a-a gold flight. I think. Um. Yeah." It had also been the best gold flight Arly had ever experienced, but that was never, ever to be voiced aloud. "Yeah. Um. You, um, you think it will?" She dared a peek at Kale. "I'm not, um, very, um, interesting. Or, um, *experienced.*"

Ilyenath liked having a firelizard hat. Blaze did it sometimes, but it was nice having a fellow green as a hat. When Shiny had gone back to work on her neck and the girls were back to talking, the elegant green turned her head to give Arly a good look. It amused her that her rider's friend was so awkward about her own feelings for a fellow rider. Often Ilyenath thought human mating would be much better if it followed a pattern like draconic mating did. It would be simpler for everyone involved.

Kale smiled at Arly's squeaking reply about her firelizard, even if Shiny wasn't fond of her fellow green. It was good for her friend to have a pet more easy going and chipper than the rather indomitable firelizard. "Where is Glitter right now, anyway?" Blaze had decided to go fishing at some point while Kalenia had been deciding how best to bathe and oil her dragon while she felt like a dolphin out of water. The next bit about the Goldflight made the older rider outright belly laugh. "Oh, dear, oh, goodness, ha ha ha, oh, honey." Once she had herself under control and was back at her work washing her green, Kalenia went on, "Yes, I do think so. And you *are* interesting, and, uh, E'lix, right? Well, he obviously things so too if he's hanging around with you and giving you firelizards as presents. And spending Goldflights with you. And who cares about experience, anyway? I certainly wasn't any kind of experienced before I Impressed. Had B'den deflower me before our Hatching, and that was it I think, until Ilyenath's first Flight." She shrugged. Sex was sex and even if she seemed more experienced - as Arly seemed to think she did - Kale knew she was just like anybody else about sex.

[Rachel]

Arly focused very hard on Glitter. "She's... she's still with E'lix, I think. She likes him and Umi a lot. Tags along. I'm glad they put up with her. She'd be heartbroken if they didn't." She gave Kale a slightly weary but mostly optimistic smile. "She and Eilo are the social ones. Me and Shiny are... we're the awkward ones."

Shiny huffed a bit. She wasn't awkward. She knew what she was doing and was good at it, thank you. She poked Ilyenath with a claw. ~Not awkward.~

Kale's laugh made her smile a bit less forced and stressed. At least Kale was laughing, right? And it was the good laughter, not the mean laughter.

Arly wrinkled her nose. "I'm not interesting. What's so interesting about me? That I can help Weyrwomen with archiving? Psh. Anyone with a little bit of harper training could do that much. That I'm greened out? I guess some guys are into that many mating flights." She side-eyed Kale and aimed a finger down her throat, pantomiming gagging. "It's awful. You're lucky. I swear half the time I'm not that antisocial, I'm just *hiding!* And..." She floundered. "Everyone cares about experiences!" She said helplessly. "And everyone can talk about it and I... I can't." She made another frustrated face and splashed at Ilyenath's hide to rinse it. "Argh, why am I so damn *shy?*"

What she didn't say, but wanted to, was 'fix me, Kale, make me more like you.' Functional seemed like a nice little dream.

Kalenia returned Arly's smile with an encouraging one of her own. "I suppose now you all balance out then."

Ilyenath would have crossed her eyes to look up at her firelizard hat to see her, instead she merely replied to the poke and assertion in words. ((I'm sure you're not awkward, Shiny. I believe you.))

After a giggle at the pantomimed gagging, Kale gave Arly's question a serious thought for a moment as she scrubbed. "You being so shy, as you put it, is what makes you you, and it's a lovable part of you. And you're kind and observant and you care. And you're good at seeing the bright side of things." She looked to her friend, hoping what she said helped. "Talking about sex and other things comes easier with practice, and it can depend on who you're talking about it with." Gray eyes looked at Arly sharply, her brow furrowing. "What are you hiding from? When you hide."
