Be careful what you wish for.

It'd been a fairly easy night. Zarak had been with Meria in the healer's chambers dealing with the usual blast of patients from Turn's End idiocy. This meant some sprained muscles from overexertion during dancing, a couple of bruises from falls in the crowd, and a large amount of innebriation. It was honestly tiring, but he'd taken the late-to-early shift with Meria to give others a chance to enjoy themselves. And he'd dare think that, he could do with some excitement.

It hadn't taken more than a moment for his wish to come true - the sounds of angry dragons, of people coming awake, and rushing. It only took a minute more for him to be informed, through the arrival of a rider, of the need for Healers, as someone had been attacked.

He turned. Meria had been training up in dealing with quick emergencies lately, and this would be a perfect place for her skills. "Go! I'll prep here." He did not wait to see if she complied, but quickly sent a runner for other healers, and began preparing space to deal with what could be serious injury.

Zarak thought to himself, I am never going to even think those words again.

(OOC: Healers, let's go! Time to help Mirene!)

It was a pretty lousy lot in life to shine when other people were at their absolute, may-not-survive worst, Meria thought.

Zarak gave the order. She rudely woke up Sho, who had been nesting under a cabinet somewhere. "Go to the ruckus and send me back the most detailed picture of the injured person you can. Show me her head and her stomach and if there's any blood. Tell me how much she looks like food."

It was kind of gross, but to a predator who ate raw meat, that was the best language she could come up with.

Sho, who had really taken to being used in emergencies and feeling Important, puffed up his chest and his eyes glowed a steady, intent amber. He had a MISSION.

"If anyone sasses you, you tell them you're the healer."

He nodded his little brown head emphatically and bounced into the air, flitting off to the site. It wasn't hard to find. There was a big shiny gold, for one, and other big bronzes, and a little person on the ground. He zoomed in low and landed by her face, chittering to himself as he studied. Then, quickly, before anyone could shoo him away, he backed up and prepared to return to sender--but there! On the ground! Still holding firm to the girl-like-meat, he swooped low and gave a heart-broken creel at his dead brethren. Little blue looked squished. Properly infuriated, he betweened back to the infirmary and gave his report, full of graphic images, to both Meria and Zarak's Feran. ~Look like face meat, yup yup. Funny breath.~ He gave an angry cry, hopping about indignantly. ~Dead friend! Dead friend squished!~

Meria grabbed up her emergency bag that was kept stocked at all times and the folding backboard. Meat faces were never a good sign and she didn't want to find a neck injury later rather than sooner. She had Sho lead her out to the scene. Sure enough, people swarmed it. She elbowed her way through, backboard banging into anyone who didn't move fast enough. Given the dragons, she was certain she could get help bringing the girl back.

Sho landed next to her and cocked his head, watching her breathing as he'd been taught. As Meria knelt, her bag thudding to the ground at her knees, it was immediately apparent that she needed to get back to the infirmary, with lights and an elevated surface and supplies and sterility, before she could do much of anything. The girl's face was a beaten pulp and her breathing was labored. "I need her on this board and we need to get her into the infirmary." She announced to the guards giving first aid. "Let's move her."

OOC: If no one wants to NPC the guards, we will just politely fade to black and re-emerge back in the infirmary.

OOC: Since no one jumped in, we'll transition to the infirmary.  Any posters from the 'finding' thread, or whom wish to join in with dealing with Mirene, please come here!

IC: Mirene was still breathing slowly, with a soft gurgle as she was brought into the weyr.  Zarak paled slightly as he saw the damage to the poor girl, and motioned for her to be brought to the central exam table.

With Mirene situated on the table, Zarak grabbed a sharp pair of scissors and began to cut away the bloodstained and tattered clothing she had worn.  The more that was pulled back revealed more damage to her body - kicks, cuts, and the beginnings of severe bruises.  The facial wounds and the gurgling breathing alarmed him the most.  As soon as he could he began to feel along her chest for fractured ribs.

As his fingers tested the dragonless girl's flesh, he looked up to Meria.  "Meria, what did you find, and what do you know?  Let's get a list of issues going."

~Rida with Zarak and Mirene.
