This afternoon, 10 June 2021, Keith Condon and Ken Watanabe, found Inyo County’s first Neotropic Cormorant at Pleasant Valley Reservoir. The bird spent its time between the boat ramp and the dam. The boat ramp is about halfway up the reservoir. It was usually in the company of three or four Double-crested Cormorants, which made for a good size comparison. It was last seen around 8:00 PM on the wires above the water near the dam. The bird is an immature with a dark brown breast. It’s noticeably smaller than the  double-cresteds with shorter legs and relatively longer tail.

Good birding,

Enjoy,
