Please know changes to parking at Sail Newport

Dear Storage Customers, Youth Parents, Customers and Volunteers, The Music festivals in Fort Adams State Park will take place over the next two weeks. The music events are spread out a bit this year due to COVID guidelines so there may be a bigger impact, or a bit of a different parking plan during this time.   DATES OF IMPACT: Folk Festival - Thursday 7/22 to Wednesday 7/28 Jazz Festival - Thursday 7/29 to Sunday 8/1 During these dates Fort Adams Trust parking attendants will be stationed at the entrance to Fort Adams State Park. They will collect parking fees from music festival patrons. Sail Newport facility users do not have to pay this fee, but check specific information below regarding smooth and free entry into the park for SN customers.   Please leave extra time to get to Sail Newport - There will be delays entering the park due to the volume of cars coming to these events. These delays may be significant during peak hours usually in the morning and the start of the festivals, especially on weekend days where we have observed a 45-minute delay or more. We recommend coming via water taxi or bike.

 

There is no parking fee for customers of Sail Newport as long as you say the following when stopped by a parking attendant: “I’m going to Sail Newport to…” ·     drop off my child for sailing school ·     pick up my child from sailing school ·     rent a sailboat ·     take a lesson ·     sail on my boat ·     volunteer for an event

 

Please follow the directions of the parking attendants: ·     This is not something that Sail Newport can control, we are sorry for the inconvenience of having to walk a bit more than usual ·     Do not park in the north or south dry sail lots, normal Sail Newport rules still apply.   We've had the privilege of tenancy at Fort Adams State Park for our Sailing Center for over thirty years and hope you will support us and our fellow tenants during these special events.   Thank You! The Sail Newport Team   *No Sail Newport customers or volunteers are given free access into the festivals. You will be given entrance on your honor that you are using the Sailing Center.
