Hey Guys and Gals,

Sorry I have not been able to participate much this summer, the sailing center here has been super busy. I know in the past F18s have done HPDO at American Yacht Club, October 10-11. And I was wondering if any other boats are interested, as my boat/myself definitely want to do it and finally have time off. We just have to get enough boats interested and I will talk to the Sailing Director there. If they will not let us launch from American YC, we can launch from Oyster Bay and sail over or I can talk to the beach on the other side of Oyster Bay and launch. Just let me know if anyone is interested and we can put something together so we can do this event!

Sincerely,
Arielle Darrow

Hey Arielle,

I would be up to race if someone needs a crew and the baby hasn't arrived early.

I did notice this in the NOR:
"Due to the current protocols in place to help curb the spread of COVID19, only club members and their crew (Corinthian Guests) are permitted on club property. At this time there will be no moorings, dockage, or boat storage available on the grounds for non-members. We appreciate your understanding. "

Looks like we would need to rig/store/launch elsewhere.

Best,
Jeff

Awesome!

Yes I was going to talk with American YC Sailing Director about launching and if we cannot launch from the WaterFront Center in Oyster Bay or the beach across the way on Long Island Sound.

I am very interested, but I would strongly prefer to rig and launch at AYC. If we can't store the boats overnight at AYC, then maybe F18s should just race on one day. I hope they are willing to amend the NOR.

Well I think that everyone that came to the Wickford regatta had a great time. I would really like to see if we can get boats to sign up for the HPDO regatta on Columbus day weekend. I have done this even in the past and it always a well run event. Also it will be our last chance to do buoy racing this year. Please chime in

Thank you, Joe Valante

Arielle, across the bay would be really tough, because driving 3 or 4 hour and then getting on a and off long island with a trailer would stink. So I think as a group we would want to launch from the yacht club as we have In the past.

We are a go for HPDO if we can sort out the overnight boat storage issue.

yes so I finally got a hold of the sailing director over there and they will not let us keep our boats there due to covid. He also said we need 6 boats to get a start. So either A. we attempt it and we can keep our boats at the WaterFront Center. or B. we can meet in Long Island Sound and do like a pursuit race or practice.

How far from the race course doesn't vary with wind! It's all about miles! haha

I think I'm out for this one.
