Time for the 10th Annual Keg Ride!
Spring is here and that can only mean one thing……it’s time to release East End Brewing’s Pedal Pale Ale. And release it we will. On Saturday the 26th of April over 500 cyclists will take to the streets and follow kegs on bike trailers to a mystery destination. Once there they’ll be treated to the first taste of Pedal Pale Ale, a beer that is synonymous with summer in the Steel City.

The Keg Ride turns 10 this year. This old gal started off with just a handful of riders and has now grown to be an annual event that’s not to be missed. The ride is a slow and meandering jaunt through the flat streets and gradual hills of the city. (The hills will most likely be downhill, as the front runners are pulling 180 pounds of beer.) The course this year is less than 8 miles long.

Where will the Ride end this year? Great question. It’s a tightly guarded secret, but examining the past locales will give you a clue to the ending spot this year. The Map Room, OTB Bicycle Café, Belvederes, Penn Brewery, Schenley Plaza, Mt. Washington, Mt. Davis, Union Street Hot Dog, Harris Grill, Kelly's Bar and Lounge Okay, some of these spots we didn’t ride to….and they actually give you no hint to the final destination this year. But, we can tell you that the ending location will be public property. Will it be a park, a city building, a plaza downtown or in Oakland? (hmmm…the GAP Trail sure is public property)

We’re riding for a good cause. Scott Smith, owner of the EEBC and head Keg Puller explains, “A friend of the brewery who has walked the walk of sustainability for decades is battling cancer and the EEBC community is here to lend a hand in his time of need. As we did in the fall, this Spring we're pedaling for Billy Pepmeyer of Agents of Change Recycling.”

So grab a bike and join the fun. Not only will you have a great time and be one of the first people to taste Pedal Pale Ale, you’ll also go home with a custom Keg Ride fancy shmancy glass to hold your favorite beverages all year long. Don’t delay, as there is no day-of registration.
