to East Coast 29ers
The 2019 US 29er National Championships came to a close today (Sunday) with three more races sailed in good skiff racing conditions. The brother team of Peter and Jack Joslin (San Diego, CA) sailed to finishes of 4, 1, and 4 - successfully holding onto the lead that they established back in Race #2 of this 10 race series.

The team of Charlie Leigh and Shane Riera (Miami, FL) sailed exceptionally well (finishes of 1,2,1) to secure second place.

Awards were presented to the top three teams overall, the top youth team award went to Ian and Noah Nyenhuis (San Diego, CA), top female team of Georgia Phillips and Hannah Smith (Vancouver, BC). Note that as there is always a sizable Canadian contingent at all major 29er events in the US and that there is an award for 1st overall and the award of US National Champion goes to the highest ranking all-USA team. This year, of course, that title went to the team of Joslin and Joslin.

A huge thank you to the hard working staff and volunteers of the Columbia River Gorge Association (CGRA) who hosted the event, to all the competitors who made the trek (many from extremely far away), and especially to our friends from Canada who make it possible to have major events like this by participating.
