Hello there!

Informing you that I have today attended a luncheon meeting sponsored
by the Lord Mayor Tom Hartley, Belfast City at the Clarendon docks.
The get-together was acknowledging the different groups assisting
migrants, refugees and asylum seekers in Northern Ireland.
Representatives from the different cultural groups were present. I was
representing the Filipinos (of course!) and have started networking
with the Good Relations Officer of the Belfast City Council Ms Leish
Cox who, together with the lord mayor were pleased to know that a
Filipino group is now present within the council as they have many
projects to offer. We are the first Filipino group to be established
in the city centre radius and to be officially recognized by the
Belfast City Council.

I have been invited to attend a meeting with Ms Cox this Friday.
Anyone free could come with me. The meeting is tentatively between
10am-12noon.

There will be another event exclusively for Filipinos in May to be
once again sponsored by the lord mayor. I still have to know details
about this but I was advised that other Filipino "leaders" will be in
attendance.

Will further advise of any news.

In the meantime, could we update our membership data please?

Maraming salamat!

Katrina
