Subject: NFIRS Reporting

Chiefs Solomon and Rogers,

Please pass this along to all your members:

As I mentioned at your meeting yesterday, we have numerous departments who are not reporting to the national NFIRS database.  This was discovered after our new NFIRS Coordinator, Kyle Evans, ran the most recent “Participation Report”.  This lack of reporting can be due to a reporting glitch with your vendor software, other technical issues, or just sending reports by email instead of uploading the reports.  I have already confirmed that the departments that signed the roster are all reporting correctly based on the most recent participation report (Alcoa, Loudon, Lenoir City, Jefferson City, Friendsville, Oak Ridge). With 2022 ending, it is imperative that all fire departments make sure they have reported their 2022 data completely so that we have accurate NFIRS data state-wide to facilitate community risk reduction decisions.  Please contact Kyle and make sure your department is reporting correctly; please don’t assume that you are.
