Team headed by Shinya to assess quake damage in Northeast Japan

Japan prime minister’s office handling the post-quake situation, sent
a team headed by National Public Safety Commission Chairman Shinya
Izumi, who also serves as minister in charge of disaster preparedness
measures, to assess the quake damage.
Power and water to 30,000 house in the quake-hit areas in Iwate and
Miyagi prefectures was temporarily cut off to take up investigation
stance.
Nuclear power plants in Fukushima Prefecture, The Onagawa nuclear
power station in Miyagi Prefecture and the Higashidori nuclear power
station in Aomori Prefecture,are also being assess for any damage due
to powerful earthquake magnitude of 7.2 Richter scale on Sautday
struck at 8:43 a.m areas Iwate and Miyagi prefectures of
northeastern Japan.
Train services between Omiya and Hachinohe stations on the Tohoku
Shinkansen Line. and all expressways in Miyagi Prefecture have been
closed, police said. Bullet train services on the Tohoku, Yamagata and
Akita Shinkansen lines have been suspended.
